So i finally picked up a Lite audio dac-68 from audiogon and got in last week. Got it all hooked up and spent a long evening listening to it wednesday night. Turned it all off and unplugged it and didnt turn it back on till Saturday morning.

The dac turns on. shows me that that it was picking up a digital signal but there was no audio coming out of it into the preamp. Tried all sorts of things to figure out whats wrong. made sure the preamp was working. tried a differnt digital source tried both unbalanced and balanced interconnects and nothing.

pulled it open and there was a fuse that was bad. run down to radion shack and get a replacement matching 2 amp fuse and it works again. So I am really excited now..This is the second bad experience I have had with a dac. Previously bought a Entech 205 number cruncher from ebay and it arrived Dead wouldnt turn on. So I am thrilled that this is working again now.

Anyway..anyone have any ideas on why a fuse would go bad like that. I went out and bought a new surge protector as well. Could I have something else wrong. I dont usually have problems like this. Never have had to replace a fuse before in any other equipment...and never had anything die on me from surges before.

Any advice on what could be wrong.

Don't sweat it. Probably a hundred reason's. If it becomes frequent then I'd be concerned.

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it.
