    Well, purchaed the A3 deal from best buy - but now that I have done some more research, I think I really want an A2. Looks like I will be returning the A3 tomorrow unless someone wants to trade me an A2 for an A3.

    Apparently the A3 does not decode DD signals to DTS over optical like the A2 does. Since I do not have an HDMI reciever - that is a deal breaker for me. The supposedly faster load times of the A3 don't matter near as much as the sound. (it is supposed to be the same going to an HDMI reciever, but if you are using the optical connection, you really want an A2)

    Now the cheapest I can find an A2 is Circut City for $197.00 Oh well - looks like the Sony is staying in the mix for awhile anyway...

    actually someone over at avs did a side-by-side comparison of the load times with 5 different hd dvd's and the newest firmware in both the a2 and a3 and each time the a2 was consistantly faster and it played all his 'scratched' discs from netflix, i believe, where as the a3 had trouble.

    what's the difference between the A2 and A3? does either one have analog outs? how hight up the chain do I need to go for analog outs?

    No 5.1 outs on the A3. Both the A2 and A3 have only 2ch analog outs.
