Okay my freind wants me to install a set of subs and he only asks of me that he is heard at least 1 maybe 2 blocks away "I dont know why stupid" but any way I think I have narrowed the search down to eaither the Kicker L5's or for the polks I dont know yeat. But I do not want to do bigger than 10's beacuse of the nice tight bass you get with 10's thanks. Let me know

I got a friend with a grand am with 4 12" rockfords and a DEI 1000d and you can hear him for 3 block2 with just 2 of them hooked up with all 4 you don't need th a/c because it's like having a fan blow on you. oh yeah, and I have to plug my ears with just the 2 of them. He has had this setup for 4 year with out a problem.

well, IMHO its a bit of a silly question.

I think if you go for any of the top end subs from either Kicker, Rockford or Polk, you would be happy.

I think more important than the sub (assuming they are all on equal grounding) is the enclosure you are going to put them in and the amp to run them.

If you just want loud, boomy bass heard from 2 blocks away, get a big **** speaker and whack it in a bandpass box, and power it accordingly.
10's will not hack it IMHO, if you want loud bass, go for big subs. If you want accurate, tight bass, go for smaller subs.

Like I said he does not want rockfords. I love rockfords but now rockford are going into his trunk. Plus NO 12's are going in either. So Kicker or polk that is the question.

If all he's wanting is sheer output, there is no replacement for displacement.

10's aint gonna move enough air, not like a pair of 15's will.

The Kicker L5 is a very good sounding sub and it puts out a ton of output. The Polk is geared more to sounding good and it does that in spades.

But if your friend is just wanting to be the loudest guy in the high school parking lot, get him a pair of L5 15's and as much power as he can afford and he'll be set.

I would get the Kicker Cvx's they are the loudest round subs kicker offers. And believe me they get down. Car audio magazine had a review on a single 12 and he said it was more than enough in a vehicle.

Have you ever seen a bad review in car audio magazine though? Doubt they are going to bash any of their sponsors products.

You have a good point there Meeks. But any sub that is rated at 800 watts RMS is going to get down cuz.

Ive seen several bad reviews in CA&E.

Alphasonik gets trashed everytime they have anything in there. MB Quart had a Premier sub get very sub par reviews. The new $800 Oz Audio speakers got ho-hum reviews in this months issue. Interfire had an amp a while back that got poo-poo'd.

CA&E is a straight up reviewer. You gotta think, most comanies nowadays make very solid stuff and their top of the line entries are very respectable so there really arent any pieces out there that just suck. Yeah there is Audiobahn, Boss, Crunch and so on but whens the last time you ever saw one of those reviewed in there?

I hear nothing but great things about the CVXs. I've checked out some of the other car audio forums and they get a lot of praise for the price. Apparently its a good all around sub that can pound but offers decent SQ as well. And for the price those things are selling for, I wouldn't think you could go wrong.

Man i wish all the other stuff I ordered would arrive so I can get my 2 12" Polk SR124-DVC subs wired up. I hate waiting.
