Will run it on the HT bypass...

will allow me to add stuff in the future at a much cheaper price...

Anytime you can get a 800+ dollar preamp for 40 some bucks...

I know you meant it literal, but that just sounds dirty.

    Well box is ordered ---

    Was 21 bucks shipped...

From here, just gotta wait for it to get here, ship it out -- 4-5 weeks for the repair, they ship it back..

I'm in action with something I have no use for! ;)

Nah, I was going to buy a HT preamp anyways... this will allow me to add LFE subs, center channel, surrounds, etc etc later on in a bigger room - or some LFE subs NOW! ;)

keep it.. you are loooking for a pre amp anyways right?

i am very pleased in how it does for HT, but in 2 ch stereo it also does quite well.

you do need a composite or S-video connection to a TV to be able to see and use the menu though.

    I dont need a preamp --

My Candela is a smoking awesome 2 ch pre -- but I of course dont have all the surround capabilities -- so it kind of gets rid of a future purchase for me...

    Works out good!

Is there any downside to running this pre through the Candela's HT bypass?

I'd think that passing the signal through another pre would alter the signal...maybe I'm wrong though...

If there is any negative effects --

Dont really care... as long as it passes the signal through is good enough for me...

I cant imagine there being any

All it does is bypass the Candela's volume control

Outlaw was incredibly prompt on sending me a box.

Got here in like 2 days, actually arrived on a Saturday oddly...

Either way, shipping the 990 out today, and assuming it can be repaired...

    It should return early December!!!

So.... will be interesting, for sure....

the 990 uses DVI connections as well as component. but the DVI signal doesn't pass the menu thru.. only S-video, composite and component .

cool. well once you get it back (hopefully repaired), hook it up and run it thru it's paces.. and see how it works for you. if it's not your thing.. sell it.. make a good chunk of change and put that towards something you want.

What do I need to use to get the best video?

Im the opposite of a video-phile...

    EDIT -

I'll probally keep the unit, because I dont really care about up-to-date formats for movies, I watch about 3 movies a month... lol -- and not at extremely loud volumes either...

This would work good towards the future, and definitely cant beat it for 45 bucks... lol

component video will give you the best video to your TV, as long as it also has component inputs.. they are three RCA's basically. red, green, blue (RGB)
