FS: Audio Research SP16 Preamp

Silver, no phono, with remote. Conservatively 8/10
I've used this pre for almost a year now. That's a lot to say for me
This is a great tubed preamp, and for my ears and my system this was better than several others I tried, including a Dodd MLP and an AES-Cary AE-3 Signature.
This pre has relatively low gain (11.5db). Uses three 12AX7 tubes.
Home Theater by-pass, two sets of outputs
I am selling because I got a super deal on a new Bel Canto Pre2. The Bel Canto has blue leds and matches better with the rest of my gear.
Here's the AR page:
http://www.audioresearch.com/SP16.html
And a couple of reviews:
http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/audioresearch_sp16.htm
http://www.stereophile.com/tubepreamps/901/
It will include original box, manual, parts list and schematics (I got these from AR because I was planning to upgrade a few caps, which I never did).
Buyer also gets two remotes (in one of them the volume buttons sometimes did not work, so I got another one)
3 trios of tubes; EH, Telefunken and Mullard. Tube rolling special.
All this including shipping for $1,250.REDUCED: $1,175 Shipped
Please post interest here, then PM me.

Wingnut4772, this is your Preamp. I don't think you can find much better

Ricardo, were you the original owner of this fine unit? If not, any idea how many hours are on it?

Not keeping the groceries cold would make the Mrs. mighty frosty.
My AR vt60 is crying, but not going to happen this time.
This is a very nice pre."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -

No; got it on Audiogon last January. No idea how many hours it had before, but I've put plenty on it. I work from home 2 or 3 days a week and it is on all day. I bought the EH tubes probably around March, and the Mullards & Telefunkens I got from Russ recently. These have very little use since I got them._________________________________________________

Do you know if it could be sent to AR to have a phono stage installed?
And how much?

Thanks
Yes, it can be sent, but it was too expensive (around $500 if I remember correctly), and it supports only one type of cartridge. For that money you can get a very good separate phono stage. I bought a pro-ject tube box for less than that._________________________________________________

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....
