Enough that you can't swap one for the other.

Why is that? It will still work.

You can also replace with any 6 1/2' driver. The point is there are differences in all Polk drivers and they are optimized to work in different speakers with different design parameters.

Will it work? Sure probably not to badly either. Are they a direct swap? No. Some of us, myself included, don't prefer to swap non- original drivers between models because there are differences. Also depending on what you are using for amplification certain combinations of MW drivers in conjucntion with certain x-over's can cause a problem and trip circuit protection because of certain load characteristics.

    Is that a better explanantion?

Even if it would work it would sound different.

Polk does alot of research and developement in there speakers. They match them to the cabinets they are in and the speakers they will be paired with. Changing any of these parameters will change the sound.

With that argument you could use speakers of the same size and ratings from any manufacturer and say the same thing.

Plus, there are impedance variations on each driver which, if replaced with something different, will change the crossover points. The T/S parameters are different for each driver.

My answer, albeit short and sweet, was the correct answer. After that fact any details are as irrelevant as your last post.

The 6502 was used in the monitor 5 and smaller. It was still available a few years back when I needed one for an original monitor four (peerless tweet). Polk sold me the 6503s as replacements for the 6500 in my original monitor 10s (peerless tweet) and 6501 in my SDA 2s. The 00 and 01 were no longer available. This was all a few years back I don't know what they sell now. I haven't blown anything up lately.:) What happened to the parts charts?
