I have a pair of Monitor 5jr's For Sale Cheap here only!

They are in Perfect Condition as fas as how they play/sound. Just as good as new.

They are in fair to good cosmetic condition:
(Minor Surface scratches only, grilles have minor snags in fabric, one grille faceplate missing. The drivers have been professionally reconed by "Digital Sound" in Norfolk, Va. No Manual)

Would $149 plus actual shipping fees & insurance be a fair price for anyone at Club Polk?

My zip is 23061 for shipping estimate... not sure what they weigh, though.

    Update on the speakers... Based on the email questions I received;
    The cabinet color is black. (forgot to mention)

    Description as follows:
    One 1 inch dome tweeter, One 6.5 inch driver, One 6.5 inch sub bass radiator, 19.5H x 9W x 10D, 30Hz - 26 kHz, 20 - 125 watts/channel, Compatible with 8 ohm outputs, 91 dB, about 40 lbs/pair.

    I bought a pair of 5jr+ off these boards for around $160 including shipping and they didn't have cosmetic problems, and they are a step up from the 5jr. But then again, a fair price is what someone is willing to pay.

    Edit: if they have the passive radiator.. doesn't that make them the 5jr+, and not the 5jr?

    I tried to delete my post.. don't drop your price based on what I said.. I thought there was a 5jr speaker with a port, and a 5jr+ with a passive... and that you had the plain jr. But the vintage page on the Polk site doesn't list a plain old 5jr... so... don't know why the forum wouldn't let me delete the post, but I don't want to torpedo your sale. Sorry about any confusion, I'll shut the **** up now....

    Edit: given that they are the 5jr SOMETHING with the passive.. I certainly think you're in the ballpark. Might not be worth paying to ship them all the way across the country at a sale price of $150... but we have a pair in our house, and the pair I bought off the boards went to my sister. They are very nice midsized speakers.. will serve very well without a subwoofer... would work great as either stereo mains (alone, if you aren't bass hungry), or as HT mains with a good sub. We use ours as surrounds backing up a pair of Monitor 7s as mains.

    I can recommend the sound/value to ANYONE on these boards looking for another pair of vintage Polks... I'd get them myself if I wasn't in the midst of a speaker project based on the free drivers I got from Russ.

    NAD did not make a 200wpc amp @ 8 ohm, did they?

    Too bad man, I just sold a GREAT NAD 2700THX.

    Look for a 2400 or 2400THX and bridge it with your 3400, massive power.

    Just curious... why did the drivers need to be reconed? My Monitor 7Cs were built in 1989 and the 6.5" drivers look like they just came off the assembly line.. did yours get poked or torn somehow???

    When I moved there was 2 holes 1/4" in size on the surround butyl rubber.

    burdette was correct.... The speakers described here have to be 5jr+. I have a pair of 5jr speakers and they do not have the passive radiator.

    5jr+ is one step up from 5jr and worth every penny based on what my 5jrs sound like.

    Maybe they are, but the label on the back says 5jr.
