    Excellent choice. I sold the same amp for $300.00 on Ebay last month. Don't worry about the "low" wattage for the rears. I could never push the amp to clipping even when cranking music with Lexicon Music Logic. Very nice amp.
    Russ, now find me a Carver TFM-15cb for less than $200.00.

    This amp is rated at 100 wpc for front chanells, 110 watts for center and 50 wpc for rears. Thats total of 410 watts. for $250 thats turns out to be $0.61 per watt. (though if you compute it the other way it is 1.64 watt per dollar ;).

    which speakers were you driving with yours. Is there any website that conatin the detailed spec about this amp. I will be driving the following with it:
    RTi70 mains
    RT25i surrounds
    CSi30 center

    I will use my denon avr-2802 as pre/pro.

    The RTi70 sound bright with my denon and I hope carver's warm sound will help taming the brightness.

    Imran, I don't have the manual anymore, but here is what I listed on Ebay about the amp. I took it straight from the manual:
    This auction is for a Carver AV-405 5 channel amp. The original manual and box are included. The amp is in excellent condition, no marks or scratches. The specs are as follows: Front Channels are 100 watts per channel (x2) into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with no more than 0.2% THD. Center channel is 110 watts into 8 ohms. Surround channels are 50 watts per channel (x2) into 8 ohms. Dynamic Headroom is 1.5 dB at 8 ohms. All discrete outout stages for best performance. Power enhancement circuit on the surround channels delivers more average power when needed. Gold-plated RCA input jacks. Heavy duty 5 multi-way binding post. Removable handles for placement in 17 inch wide cabinet. I used it with a Lexicon DC-1 and it sounded amazing. I could never tell the surrounds were 50 watts. The amp never came close to clipping.

    I used it briefly with my main setup with a Lexicon DC1, I then had it in my family room with the DC1.
    In the basement I was driving 2 Polk RTA15tl's, a Polk CS400, and a pair of RTA11t's. It drove the 6 ohm speakers with ease. I later upgraded my basement system and moved the Carver and the Lex to my family room. I was using the Eosone 5 speaker Sub/Sat system and it was way more than I needed. You can call Carver and they should be able to give you any additional specs.

    Thanks for the information Jeff. I was interested in finding out that weather the amp is rated with all chanel driven or not.
    I know recievers are rated with only one or two chanels driven at a time
