It's a el' cheapo resister..... shouldn't be to hard to replace. Go to ratshack and match up the color bands to the new one. The color bands indicate the total resistance.
Are you handy with a soldering iron? Those older boards are alot easier to work with.

A very nice find. It (and the SX-1280) is the one all the "Silver Pioneer" fans want. It's probably worth spending a few bucks to get it working if it is salvagable. He is a link.

Hell yes, I think I tweaked my back hauling it around, did not use the proper lifting technique when snatching this one up because I was in a rush to load up the rest of the goodies they had stacked up.

Ooooo Ahhhhhh! sold for $900 pesos back in 1976 at a whopping 65 lbs of pure heavy metal. Nice. Hope you get it back up and running again.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I don't know what your intentions might be, but there's an awful lot of potential cash if you flip that thing. Personally, I think it would make for an excellent garage or spare room rig, but a lot of freaks think that thing is the ultimate in fidelity. Nice find.

Good pickup. While I agree it isn't the 'end all be all' (what is?) it is probably the best receiver Pioneer ever made. One of those things were everything fell nicely into place, hope you get it back up and running. And you'll have no problem moving it at a tidy profit if you so decide.

Nice find. Not certain the burnt resistor will blow the fuse though. Check for a melted solder drip shorting somewhere. Trace the circuit back and forth. Also check the power switch, folks used to plug other components in the back and overloaded the switch. Well worth the fix.>

It's a flipper one way or another obviously worth more if it's running as opposed to presenting it as a parts unit or a candidate for restoration.Nice find. Thanks for that info, I'll look around a bit more.

My favorite receiver that I own has got to be my Pioneer SX-450. The sound is just so much nicer than modern receivers. If I had that 1250, I'd likely put it on my SDA's

As everyone else said, you can make a pretty penny on eBay, I'm sure (though you didn't state how much you paid for it)Ludicrous gibs! -
The guy that bought my RTA 15TL's bought this off of da bay right after he picked up the Polk's: link

go to Audiokarma.com as there are plenty of (as George Grand says) freaks over there that absolutely adore the Pioneer SX series. They will tell you more than you ever wanted to know and will be a great help in tracking down your problem and could even provide you with schematics. Be ware though, most of the Pionner freaks think the 1280 is the ultimate audio component ever made so listen past the BS.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. You're going to need to be a member at AK for awhile before they start throwing cash at you for that thing.
I think the premier Pioneer receiver (according to them, certainly not me, I don't think ANY of them are worth owning to be honest) is the SX-1980. -
