What about using the Ring tweets in place of the 3000's? They can be had for the same price as the SL's. Not from Polk of course, they have their little mark-up. I was thinking of going in that direction myself. Along with the crossover upgrade, I would think they would sound pretty dam good.

can you put the ring tweeters in place of the older sl tweeters? will they fit the same cutout in the sda's, or will you have to custom fit them? Do the ring tweeters sound a lot better?

I've done some measuring on both tweets and I believe the ring tweets would fit the SL3000 plate. The screw holes would have to drilled in the plate to mount them in, but would still work. My biggest concern would be the modifying of the crossover. If this can be done, I think the imaging would be solid and very clean. I think the Ring tweets are so much better sounding than the new replacements. I think FrankZ said something about Mathew modifying his SRT system with the new drivers. The VIFA XT's can be had for $55 a piece, replacement 3000's are $64.
