Anyone get a chance to hear the new Connoisseur line from Energy?
I got to hear them over the last 2 days......man nice sounding speakers.
I for one never really cared for Energy speakers. The take five system I heard was awefull, and the Veritas line I thought was kinda dead sounding, like they had no life to them....well thats another story in it self.

The new C5's C7's and the C9's are all nice in there own way..............except the C7's.....somethings wrong with that speaker.....not sure what it is..I'll call it thin for now.

Liv4fam and I went to World Wide Stereo And Video,he needs to get his McIntosh amp switch fixed. So off we went over there. And they got in the Connoisseurs since the last time we where there.
Well mated with a Rotel RC-1070 preamp and a Rotel RB-1080 amp, they sounded really good.I was so Impressed I had to go back today for a second demo.I like the C9's and the C5's......both have there strong points but the C9's are more detailed and refined.
Nice stuff, if you ever get a chance to demo...it would be worth the time.
O by the way the Rotel was in silver.....OOOOOOOYYYYYEAH..I wanted to just bring it home with me ..O so sweat.

    Mantis,

Just wondering how the C 9's compared to the following?

    Rt 800i's
    Lsi 15's
    Totem Forest

I have seen them several months ago but never really listen to them. I guess they're the mid level speakers for Energy.

Every pair of Energy speakers that I've heard were way overpriced for their sound. I once used to get suckered in by adds. I HAD to check out Energy. I came away with a hoe-hum feeling. The first couple of times I figured it had to be electronics, music, room, etc. I'll continue to check them out, but don't expect much. If I get a chance to hear the Conn's I'll let you know my impressions.

    Speaker7,
The c9's are a great sounding speaker.I heard them with McIntosh running them.....I gues you could say thats completely unfair as I only heard the rt800's on Yamaha,Denon,HK,and Onkyo.None of the above electronics are the caliber of McIntosh.

The Lsi 15's I think are a better sounding speaker, even with out McIntosh running them, but I bet with McIntosh running them ,they would be even better then how I feel about them now.

Totem Forest with the rest of the Totem line,I feel are a hell of a speaker company/cabnet makers. They don't make there own speaker parts,Dynaudio covers them for drivers. But all in all, they sound truely high end.Well built and full of life.

Liv4fam is on a quest for new speakers. And we listen together to many many different companies to weed out the nice from the not so nice.Enery is still on his list after our 2 different demo's.I like them 2.

I've listened to the Veritas V2.3 ($2600 tower), and it sucked, big time. The Veritas is their highest line, too. I read a review of the Connoisseur 3, I believe, and they were very impressed with it. Now maybe they will do something with their Veritas line....

Thanks Mantis.......again for your opinion! very interesting!

I'm still dreaming about owning a (near) high end 2 channel system for music only but I will have to start saving right now. My home theatre set up is finally completed in April and I spent my last dollars on the tv.......now I will have to wait for a while inorder to have enough cash to pay for new amps/speakers/cd player.

I will have to get some more inputs from you before I step up to the plate and make this big and final purchase(hope this should keep me happy/content for at least 10yrs). But it will take some time before I see anything in my place.

    MY home theatre system (present)

    RT800i's
    RT35i's
    CS400i's
    CS245i's (not in use)
    HK310
    Toshiba SD-5700
    Veld CT-150
    Toshiba 36HFX71

    My 2channel system (1.5-2yrs) (Future)

    Rotel/amps/pre
    Cambridge Audio CD player
    Lsi 15's/or Totem/?????????

(get the best quality for the lowest price)

It's funny how Idea's turn around.
I was sitting here thinking about the Rotel RB1090 power amp toped off with the Rotel RC-1090 pre amp,Rotel RCD 1070 CD Player, all wired up with Transparent ,and how sweat it would sound powering my Lsi 15's in a 2 channel stereo system.

Nice system planning and owning, patience is everything,,isn't it?
