Demand vs. Deal on E-bay

I notice when someone sells something on e-bay and demands the instant resonable average full price of that item, no one will bid. If they start out at an unreasonably low price, they create a bid war that gets them more than average. I just love a good ****'n mind game. If your a seller, pride will allways win you your best price on E-bay. If your a bidder, avoid the pride war and save your money. If ya gotta have it, bend over.

I fall into the "I gotta have it" way to much.
Ebay is wierd, as a seller something can get 10 bids to half what I want, then relist it and get 10% more than I was hoping for.
Right now on Ebay there have been some deals going down, and I am a broke ****.Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
Outlaw ICBM - crossover
Beringher BFD - sub eq
Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

Count me in on that one.....
I want a Carver C-1 so bad (so I can get my SH on) it KILLS me. Once in a while you will see one cheap cheap and I NEVER have the coin at that time.

Why the change of heart? You're an SDA wannabe, aren't you?

You find gainful employment yet Aaron?Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

Not a change of heart really, more curiosity than anything else. I'd like a preamp with a phono stage, would ideally like it to match my amp and while I'm at it, see what all the fuss is about. Plus it's a COOL looking unit.
Generally, I am not a big fan of gimmickery which I do feel that both SDA and SH fall in to that category and what I heard of SH left me unimpressed. Having said that, it wasn't a real demo, I wasn't in the sweetspot and at the time knew even less about audio than I do now (which isn't much). Doesn't mean it's all bad though.
As far as SDA, I'd like to bag a pair for the collection just for **** and grins. If I like 'em, I'll keep 'em. If I don't, I'll pass them on. Ribbons are my speaker priority of the moment though.

Ebay is great for buying low AND for selling high. That is a pretty strange statement to make of any single business. If you don't figure it out you will end up buying high or selling low though. Ain't it great?
The procedure:
Pick your item based on a picture copied from elsewhere on the net, purchase a money order for thousands that you can't afford to loose in order to protect the seller, buy insurance which only the seller has access to, pick a stranger who sent you an email (sometimes automated) and send it to them with almost no recourse. Santa Claus is alive and well!!!

There are a number of things I would love on ebay. But I am out here at the bottom of the world (New Zealand) and even if they do ship international it can cost as much as the item to get here. Especially heavy things like good speakers, doh.
Been trying to complete a full polk HT setup, but the used polk market in NZ is tiny, I may have to end up on ebay yet. It is going to be a long wait to assemble the bits I want me thinks.
