I've seen construction guys do it on heavy equipment. earth movers, tractors, cranes. anything with a big **** diesel. I dont know If I would do it in a car doing highway speed though. to each his own

I've re-heated hot dogs that way on a long trip. Never did any actual cooking though.

I first heard about his back in the sixties when I was a kid, but never had the gumption to give it a try. I'll just stick with restaurants when we go on our road trips to see the in-laws, the kids love stopping at Steak-n-Shake and it's easier that way.

In the Army we would lay our MRE's on engines to heat them up. Works really well.

Make sure whatever you decide to cook is in a sealed container or the engine smell will permeate your food.
