I have a Monster Power bar 2100 and it has 12 outlets (though I'm not using all of them). The HTS 3500 has 10 outlets.
I don't need a power conditioner now but I'm thinking of upgrading it in another 6 months to a year.
Do you think its worth upgrading to HTS 3500 MKII now? OR just wait until when I'm ready to upgrade with the risk of paying more money.

Well, I got a good deal on liquidation from goodguys for an htps 7000 which is several models up from the 3500 and I don't really notice any difference in sound quality. However, I didn't have any pops or hums in my system before I plugged everything into the power center so I wasn't expecting any miracles.

However, I thought that all the faint lines and grain on my TV were from a bad cable line. But the 7000 filtered all the bad stuff out of my video...so it ended up being a good purchase after all. Could be there was some of the same pollution on my audio lines, but my rig doesn't sound much different after the fact to me...so maybe it was below my hearing threshold before...could try a comparison test, but that's a lot of power cords to move around.

As an alternative to the 3500, people might want to consider this pro rack conditioner:
    http://www.furmansound.com/products/pro/pwr_cond_seq/cond/_15a/pl8_2.php

$115 at Guitar Center and it has non-sacrificial "series" surge protection. If a monster power center stops a major spike or repeated minor spikes, its MOVs eventually burn out and the unit has to be replaced. But non-sacrificial systems like furmans take a hit without degrading future surge response.

    Hope this helps...

Ooops, almost forgot that I also came across this furman voltage regulator/surge protector:
    http://www.furmansound.com/products/pro/reg/reg6.php?req=acv

The guy at Guitar Center said he could special order it and knock 25% off its $600 price. That's way cheaper than the avs 2000 others have mentioned.

I don't own either furman since the 7000 cleared my funds. But I was thinking of getting the ar-15-II when my funds recover from Christmas...

That's because Amazon sold out and is now showing 4-6 weeks for shipping. Chances are, they won't get them back in stock because this is an EOL product. Expect most places to sell out shortly.

I went to the Amazon link and it shows $170.98 but I see nothing about the $50 rebate. Where can I find information on the rebate?

    Thanks!

Sorry if this sounds silly, but how do I use the 12v trigger to turn on/off the monster 3500?

Look for a 12v trigger out on your receiver. Then connect a mono (stereo works too) miniplug cable between the receiver and the power center. Monster usually includes the cable, but you can pick one up from frys or rat shack in a pinch.

Then when you turn the receiver on with the remote, it will trigger the power center to power up all your gear or put it in standby mode when you turn the receiver off. You can also chain together components with the miniplug cables since components usually come with 12v in and out jacks.

The trick is that you have to have the receiver plugged into an "always on" outlet. Otherwise, when the power center powers down, it cuts the juice to your standby receiver too.

    Thanks for the quick response.

My issue is that I don't have 12v trigger out on my receiver (it's an old kenwood receiver). Are there any other solutions?

I think the Monster comes with a 120V to 12V adapter that you can use to connect the switched outlets on your receiver to the 12V trigger on the Power Center. Same as above, make sure you connect the receiver power to the "always on" outlets.

:D Well finally my HTS 3500 PowerCenter has arrived. It shipped on the 9th of December and the box arrived yesterday the 20th. I guess it takes time through customs to Canada.

Ordered HTS 3500 through “Twister Group” and got it for $146.00 + $34.00 shipping. I hooked it up last night and it works well. The voltmeter with dimmer looks cool too.

The only thing I don’t like is you have to connect your receiver to “always on” outlet to be able to turn the conditioner on/off with 12V trigger from receiver.

Anyway, I hooked it up from my receiver with 12V trigger to conditioner. When I turn my receiver of with the remote it will turn off the HTS 3500, but some pilot light in front of conditioner stay on. Is this normal? Any comments would be appreciated.

I'd leave the 3500 power center on all the time. Mine has tripped at least six times in the past couple years during storms.

Is the model that is on sale the MKII version or the really old version?

This is the 3500 MKII model on sale.

What you mean you leave yours on all the time? I thought it supose to protect your gear even if it is in off position.

US $$ Willow. It is a good deal. It took just over a week for delivery to Toronto. UPS is busy right now so for you to Ottawa it would be a little longer.
There was no problem with Twister Group or the UPS and there was no duties or taxes at all just $140+$34 shipping = $180.00 US.

    Here is the link

    (EDIT-1) http://www.thetwistergroup.com/product/MP-HTS3500MKII%20D10575.html

(EDIT-2) The web site shows $168.12 US but my invoice was $140.00 US
