I had the 300 mated to an Onkyo rig with 800 mains, and ls/fx surrounds for some time. I actually preferred it's sound over the 400, its a good center.

    Cheers,

How big are the drivers on the CS300? Is there a website
that has a picture of it?

I have Polk SDA2's as my front speakers. The Polk website
says the CS400i is the best match. I can get a CS400 on
ebay for around $200 or go for the CS300 for $100.
What do you think I should do?

Why would you pick the 300 over the 400? Do you
know if there is much difference between the CS400
and the CS400i? From what I have read, they sound the
same except the color of the drivers. How about the
    CS40i?

I bought the 400, and my friend bought the 300 at the same time. We demoed side by side on his Yamaha rig, and my Onkyo rig, I preferred the vocal clarity on the cs300, and thought the smaller drivers for center channel duty sounded more natural, less chesty. He thought the 400 had a better overall, 'bigger' sound. I swapped him my 400 for his 300 (and $50).

Nothing is wrong with either one, a TON of members have the 400 here and would recommend it over the 300 or 245, but that's not how my ears heard it.

    Cheers,
    Russ

I've had people tell me once I get the cable hooked up
    on my SDA2's, I won't need a center channel anyway. ;)
    My SDA'2 have 6 1/2 inch midranges so I wouldn't
want to go with the CS300 if my SDA's would overpower
it since 50% of the sound of most dvd's comes out of
the center channel. I'll most likely go with the CS400
but would love to hear more opinions.
    Thanks, Mike

Yeah it is, esp new in the box. They went for $299 back in the day.....

I think it would make a great center for your SDA2's...I believe it was 90db 1w/1m, and if I'm not mistaken, your SDA2's are right there also.....

Do what you feel comfortable doing, I'm sure someone will snag it up soon regardless.

    Cheers,
    Russ

A couple of years ago my wife was having a gathering in our home (all guests were women). She lit a scented candle in a glass jar and set it on top of my .. I mean our.. 27" Toshiba TV. A little while later, a guest squawlked because the glass jar (inside) was on fire. It melted/buckled a section about 3" x 3", including a hole about 1/2" x 1" right through the top of the set. Um, we don't put candles on the TV anymore.... She knew within our first 2-3 dates that you do NOT set your drink on my speakers, and she's stuck to that one nicely.

I have had to clean syrup off the front of a component, but I'm pretty sure that was my two year old.

Har, get the **** off the speakers, they are not extra shelves for wifey-pooh's crap, period. They are loudspeakers, and damn fine ones, clean it up. ;)

    Hey Russ,

It is my wife's idea so, personally I don't mind putting something on my speakers. It doesn't really matter to me because she didn't mind that I have HUGE speakers, so it matters less that she puts something pleasant on top of them.

By the way the CS300 Center channel...
Auction has ended with Buy It Now.

    Har,
My WIFE just stated that you've got to much crap on those speakers! She is a firm believer in keeping our HT looking like an HT, No baskets, plants, candles, or anyother asorted FOO-FOO-stuff! Not even a picture of her mother, my mother, or dear old Uncle Elmer!
