Subwoofer Question

I accidently posted this question in the speakers section earlier . . . more appropriate to post here so sorry for the repeat. I have a velodyne va1215 subwoofer and the rubber surrounds around the driver are leaking air (small part has detached from the cone) I tried glueing that part down with rubber cement but that didn't hold very long. Velodyne won't repair it and said my only option through them is to buy a whole new driver. After searching online I have found a lot of companies that offer "re-foaming" for around $40-$45. Is this a gimmick or will the refoamed speaker hold (the sub hits somewhat hard as it has a 250W continuous/750W peak amplifier.) If anyone has had any experience with getting a speaker refoamed and could tell me if its worth doing or where to get it done I would appreciate the advice! Thanks.

    I would probably go with a new driver if money is an issue. If not, get a new sub. If the super glue lets you down, this will be your only two options.

    Superglue may work, or you can buy something made specifically for gluing surrounds:

    You will need to get all the rubber cement off first.
