    Hmm. IDK Makes sense to me, though. 'Cuase I think the smaller the box, the more the 'resistance', and so the more power required to move the woofer.

    right as long as youre not saying the air pressure inside a small box is greater than in a big box, the air pressure is the same, its just the amount of space it has to occupy is different

    Right, the air pressure is the same. However, is it easier to compress air in a larger box than in a smaller box? Or would that be the same, too? 'Cause if it is the same, I think I'm getting confused, as I don't see how the smaller box would then require more power.

    Pretty much. Not so much in the lower, midbass frequencies but the higher you go the more directional it gets and off axis response is less and less.

    Now with this i am really confused(sorry for the 1000000 questioning but itll stop once i learn enough) But wouldent the speaker whires be exposed, and in the open? that would be rather unsightly wouldent it? and would you put the sub directly up to the hole and secure it or would you stick it through the hole and secure it?

    What I was saying Mac is that sound comes from the front and back of all drivers, not just subs. On/off axis is different.
    Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

    Mounting the sub inverted actually helps SQ depending on the sub. For example, if you have an Infinity Kappa Perfect VQ, it's got a humongous magnet, no way that magnet will fit inside a sealed box with the minimum internal volume (0.3 cu ft). So you put the motor outside the box.

    Second, this actually "creates" more box volume (when you're too lazy to build a new box) because hte motor structure isnt taking up space in the box anymore. This depends on the box size. 0.1 cu ft of sub rear end won't matter in a 1.5cu ft box, but it will be bigger in a 0.7cu ft box.

    Some say the bass gets deeper when mounted this way, and attribute it to the volume "gain". Personally, though, I think its because of better power transmission. now the wires go straight from amp to sub, no need for those $2 connectors that used to be in the box.
