I have the Polk Audio XM Refence Tuner (XRt12). I am integrating it into a home control system. I plan on controlling it with RS232 commands. Since the RS232 commands do not include a power on or off command, I have to use the 12 volt trigger. However, with the unit plugged in and powered OFF (blue light on power button only), I apply 12V to the 12V input and nothing happens. Any ideas on what may be the problem. Thanks.

You don't have 12v there, is bad. What are you using for 12 volts?

Is the 12V you're sending a constant 12V? Have you tried to turn on the tuner with a couple of recevier's 12V remote trigger?

Thanks for your replies. In an attempt to verify the 12V with a multimeter, I figured out what was wrong. I'm using an AMX controller relay to trigger the 12V. I had fed the 12V straight to the XM tuner and sent the ground through the relay. Unfortunately for me, the ground appears to be common amoung the devices (makes sense, since they are plugged into the same wall outlet) so it was always 12V at the XM tuner.
I changed it so now I'm sending the 12V line through the relay with a straight ground between the two and it's working fine.

How do you like the Polk XM tuner? A friend of mine got one for his boat (BIG boat), but decided to go with an Alpine unit instead, as it integrated with his equipment better.

He has offered it to me for $100 - $150, it's brand new, still in the box.

That's a steal, the XM receiver is the best sounding receiver out there. IMHO
