Considering a Rogue Audio integrated.

I like "playing: with Chat GPT and asked it for input on replacing my amp and preamp with the Cronus III integrated. Does the response hold merit?

"If you listen mostly at moderate levels and value:
tube sound
vinyl
simplicity
fewer components
remote volume
built-in MM/MC phono
easy subwoofer integration

I'd lean toward the Cronus Magnum III.

If you listen at high levels and value:
maximum dynamics
very tight bass
maximum headroom
absolute control of the L600s

I'd keep the HCA-1500A/PAS-4 combination.

But there's an interesting middle ground

Because you're adding the Rythmik L12, I'm more comfortable with the Cronus than I would be without the subwoofer.

The L12 can take over the lowest frequencies, while the Cronus handles the musical range where the L600 is particularly good.

One thing makes me lean toward the Rogue for you

You've now moved away from the WiiM and back toward CD + vinyl.

That changes the priorities.

You no longer need a streamer/DAC/preamp with extensive digital processing. The Cronus becomes a very elegant centerpiece:

Rogue Cronus Magnum III

↙ ↘
Polk L600 Rythmik L12

That's a very coherent system.

I would, however, insist on the 4-ohm output taps with your L600s, not the factory 8-ohm setting. Rogue's manual specifically provides both taps and instructs users to select the appropriate impedance for the speakers."

Uhhhh, not sure how to answer that. I do thoroughly enjoy my CM III with my RTA 15TLs and dual REL T/5x subs, however.

Reminds me, I oughta send the Rogue in for the Dark upgrade …

    One of several AI apps.

If I do take the leap it will be the dark version. The specs on the Magnum read 100 wpc. I usually see this as wpc at 8 ohms and then wpc at 4 ohms. Why does Rogue Audio not do this?

Most tube amplifiers output about the same power into 4 ohm and 8 ohm speaker loads through a transformer that has 4 ohm and 8 ohm taps. The Magnum has them internally factory set to 8 ohms.

Tube amps are different from solid state amps.

There is a guy near me selling a black one, although an earlier version, if you are interested. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks Kev but I'm more interested in the "dark" edition
