Over the past year or so I've bought some different headphone amps that double as pre-amps for my desk top office rig. I bought 2 different versions of the LYR. It uses a single 6SN7 or equivalent tube.

Want a super-high-end, super-powerful, tube hybrid headphone amp and preamp—but also want the comfort of a pure solid state design? Then Lyr+ is for you! It’s the only headamp in the world that goes seamlessly from tube to solid state, using our exclusive Fusion Architecture™.

Don’t want to use a tube? Then don’t plug one in. Lyr+ switches seamlessly to its internal solid state gain stage, based on exotic depletion-mode MOSFETs. Want tube gain? Then plug in any 6SN7-type tube, and Lyr+ switches over to 100% tube voltage gain with the MOSFETs completely out of the picture. That’s the magic of Fusion Architecture.

Lyr+ is our first compact headamp that gives you relay ladder volume control, for ultimate transparency and perfect channel matching, from the lowest to highest volumes. Coupled with a powerful Continuity™ bipolar output stage, full DC coupling throughout, separate regulated high-voltage and low-voltage supplies, the convenience of remote control (in case you want to use it, say, off the desktop), and microprocessor oversight, Lyr+ is a small marvel.

Lyr+ delivers up to 6W RMS per channel through the standard ¼” headphone jack, so there’s no need for balanced headphones to take advantage of all that power. But, at the same time, advanced oversight ensures Lyr+ is safe for every headphone. DC, overcurrent, and tube sensing means this is a fully modern tube amp.

Like new, I bought as open box. You get the standard soft clicking when the volume control is moved. This is also built like a tank, sounds fantastic. Check out the online reviews. I was using it as a pre amp with my Pass DIY ACA amps. Does both tube or Soild State at the flick of a switch

Comes with original box, packing, remote and owners manual

Ships with (2) tubes both of which are practically new.

$375 plus shipping. Paypal F/F or check if I know you.

Schiit - Lyr 3 with AK4490 USB DAC card which is upgradeable (see Schiit's website) purchased in 2021

Today, Schiit Audio announced the introduction of its third-generation Lyr headphone amp/preamp. Using Schiit’s new Coherence™ hybrid single-tube/solid state architecture, new Continuity™ constant-transconductance output stage, the same modular design as Jotunheim, Lyr 3 is a significant advance in technology, versatility, and convenience. Lyr 3 is available now at schiit.com, starting at $499 with out the dac card.

“This is a clean-sheet design,” said Jason Stoddard, Schiit’s Co-Founder. “Modularity means you can use the same cards as Jotunheim to create a single-box amp/DAC or amp/phono that’s very desktop friendly. But it’s a whole lot more than that. We developed a new tube/bipolar hybrid topology that we’re calling Coherence™, for the seamless way the tube and transistor work together. We also developed a constant-transconductance output stage, which we’re calling Continuity™, to address the most fundamental issue with a Class AB amplifier—and bring it closer to Class A performance.”

In addition to being a technology showcase, Lyr 3 is a versatile, powerful, and convenient solution for desktop listening via headphones and powered monitors.

Versatile: Lyr 3 can be configured with a Multibit DAC, a AK4490 DAC, a phono preamp module, or with no module at all, so it can be tailored to the customers’ specific needs. In addition, Lyr 3 can be converted from a hybrid design to an all-solid-state amp by using Schiit’s Octal LISST (a solid-state tube product.)
Powerful: Lyr 3 delivers its full 6W RMS of power at 32 ohms via the single-ended headphone jack, so there’s no need for balanced connections for high power.
Convenient: Lyr 3 uses only a single tube, which means lower tube costs and no need for matched tube pairs.

The Lyr 3, the Multibit DAC, the 4490 DAC, and the phono preamp module are all available now at Schiit.com, together with tube and solid state gain options.

Lyr 3 with AK4490 DAC or Phono Preamp: $599 (retail)

This is a well built unit. Plug n play with the built in USB dac. There are a couple of blemishes see photo's. A nick on the front edge and a slight scratch on the volume knob. I have been using it as a pre-amp to run my Pass DIY ACA amps.

Comes with original box, packing, and owners manual

Punches above it's size and price point. Solid as a tank, great parts selection, well thought out desk top amp. Nice compact little amp. Pic might show some blemishes, but the amp is free of any scratches or belmishes. I don't have the original box, but it will be packed well.

$265 - plus shipping, Paypal friends and family or a check if I know you.

I do not own headphones so I can't comment on how they sound with these units. I only have room for so many "pre-amps" in the stable. I kept the OTL Valhalla 2 which runs (2) sets of tubes.

Ask any questions. I am not a photographer in any way shape or form...lol.
