WiiM Amp Ultra & Ultra Experiences?

Options
We are moving into a house in a few weeks which means I get to have a semi-dedicated listening space for my SDA-2BTLs! I am looking to simplify the setup a bit and interested in anyone's experiences with some of WiiM's hardware offerings.

The current setup is a Triad SA1 for streaming and amplification using ARC for audio backfeed from the TV for streaming video sources. Music is mostly streaming used Qobuz directly through Control4 which is somewhat clunky. Previously I've used a Carver TFM-35 I recapped and upgraded a few other components on and a Sonance 275SE for amplification.

I'm interested in the Wiim Ultra or Amp Ultra but torn on if the power output of the Amp Ultra will be enough for the SDAs at moderate volume or if the Ultra would be the better option and used as a preamp for one of the amps mentioned above.

We also have a Peachtree iDAC that I still like the sound of but the setup gets a bit messy when you then have to go coax from the Ultra to the DAC then to the amp and if the gains are minimal I'd love to simplify the setup.

Any input or experience with any of the WiiM hardware would be much appreciated!

I can't answer your question regarding the Wiim, but I wanted to congratulate you on the move. My house is so tiny that my rooms are all multipurpose, so I'm jealous. I'd love to have a dedicated listening room. The TFM-35 has those cool meters... I'd keep using it just for that.

Ummm Crutchfield and Amazon have free 30 day returns, give each unit a try and find out for yourself. Enjoy.

Can't speak to the amplifier portion, but I have owned all of the streamers. The Ultra is a superb budget component.

Software is probably better than most thingamabobs.

I can hear noticable differences with the DAC filters when I don't use it as a transport.

I have a WiiM Amp Ultra that I use in a small family room as part of a secondary system. I can't comment on whether or not this amp would have enough power for your needs but I can state that this amp/streamer was very easy to set up and the phone app works perfectly and is extremely easy to use. I stream Qobuz without any issues. I rarely use the included remote.

I have a WiiM Pro Plus hooked to my vintage Yamaha CR-620 Receiver., Have been looking at getting WiiM Ulra as preamp to use the DAC with a CD player. WiiM app is great and it runs my Tidal stream independently on WiiM streamers, and RoomFit correction is great. Like the EQ features as well. My Wiim Pro does Apple AirPlay but the Ultra does not, and I think the same for Amp Ultra. Several YouTube channels I follow have suggested getting a WiiM Ultra with WiiM Vibelink Amp instead of Amp Ultra due to better sound stage.

Thanks for all the replies and input so far! I am leaning towards the WiiM Ultra (without the amp) to leave room for improvement and a bit more versatitlity. I found out I'll be going to CEDIA with my company next week also so I can hopefully see and hear some of the WiiM gear in person which will be nice.
