    Absolutely being sarcastic. I'm a huge Bob Carver fan no doubt about it. I've had several of his creations and to this day run a TFM 45 for my 3.1 TV system. I've spent many good dollars to restore TFM 25,45 amps and C16 preamp. I'd spend more money on the preamp the only problem is the pot that it uses or must use is only good for about 3 years before it start going downhill. I've asked Roland more than once if there's a better volume Potentiometer we could put in there because I like the preamp so much. His answer is always no.

    I used to have a C19 tube preamp. I loved it, but it began giving me problems and my system was down for a long time as a result. I ended up heading down the home theater rabbit hole for real after that. I had three TFM-45 amps driving my system at the time. I was using a Parasound pre/pro.

    No Carver experience but have lots with Phase Linear.

    Running a full WOPL conversion on my Clair Bros Audio 700II. Have two.

    They tested out @ 500w per.

    Absolutely love the WOPL’s.
    Was gonna bi-amp but nope.
    No need, one is all the SRS’s need.

    WOPL takes out the limitations of the original design.
    They end up bullet-proof.

    The people that do the WOPL conversions include a lifetime warranty on the amps.

    Once done, I wouldn’t hesitate to put them up against some of the best amps available.

    The sound is incredible.

    If you’re interested at a future point, I have a Clair Bros Audio Phase Linear 700 II I’ve never used.

    Well any upgrade is going to be fantastic compared to a 40+ year old Phase Linear amp. I asked Rolland at Hi-Tech Audio about that and he said he doesn't do it because there's nothing wrong with the original architecture of once it's restored to factory specs.

    I disagree with this.
    The old boards in the original PL’s are trash. Among other things.

    The full WOPL conversion replaces all those boards with their terrible traces.
    When they do the conversion they also re-route all the grounds and power wires to separate them. This lowers all the noise in the original design.
    When the guys do the WOPL magic they also install speaker protection which the originals never had.
    The comparison is night snd day.
    The guys at Phoenix Audio have the comparisons and outcomes of original vs the WOPL.
    The specs after the conversion is top notch compared to what the original amps put out originally.

    I had Roland do a complete re-work of my Phase Linear 4000 II preamp.
    He did all the caps along with upgraded OP-Amps and installed a remote control.

    Roland is the best when it comes to working on PL and Carver gear with keeping them original.
    But what you end up with is an original that still has all the original issues.

    Really is worth a look on the Phoenix Audio Community to read up on what a full WOPL conversion is.
