SRS 3.1TL - unique tweeter alignment.

Recently purchased a pair and have been reading through the reviews here. The responses seem to vary quite a bit in how much people appreciate them.

I wonder how much of the "smaller soundstage" criticism is due to this speaker's fully vertically aligned driver arrangement.

During my initial listen (still waiting to build the SDA cable), I was impressed by how large and forgiving the center image was. They also seem a bit smoother in the treble, though perhaps slightly brighter than my 2Bs.

What's everyone's experience with stereo imaging precision (separate from SDA soundstage width) on these compared with other SDA models? And how well does that imaging precision hold up once the SDA effect is engaged?

Without the cable you're just listening to speakers....😉
You can make a cable from a pair of RCA connectors. Grind off the outside ground petals and just use the pin. Use good quality speaker cable soldered to the pin. You're golden, then they will open your eyes.
    Spiking them also helps.

Yes! it does appear it’s a right of passage. Sooner or later a true SDA lover will build their own cables, ha!

This being my 3rd pair, it’s also the most sonically different.

    - 2B : warm and punchy low end, across the board.
    - 1A : “colder” bass, music dependent, but authoritative & large & articulate
    - 3.1TL: we shall soon see! hopefully at least as potent as the 1A.

…either way thanks to all in the forums keeping these beastly beauts alive & well! 😎
