Completely Hypothetical Question

I was just relaxing and thinking about my day, when this purely hypothetical, curious question popped in my head. If one was so inclined, how could they crash or shoot down someone else's drone....say in a residential area. Just wondering, for no particular reason at all.

    It's a federal offense, regardless.
    You do not own the sky/air path above your property. The FAA does. There will be flight logs on the drone or transmitted from the drone.
    Shotgun works well.

    I saw on a cop show out in I believe Arizona where a guy kept flying a drone low over his neighbor's house. The neighbor got fed up and shot it down. The cops didn't do anything with the shooter due to IIRC the fact the drone was being flown too low.

    Can't legally discharge a firearm within 500' of a residence so that rules that out. Maybe a wrist rocket slingshot or a high powered pellet gun (both available at walmart) if the bad machine in the air won't go away. Or maybe a laser pointer might work to blind it enough that it would crash?

    FWIW I don't condone destroying a drone and would rather let it go away on it's own rather than face legal consequences. I believe that's a given; there will be consequences if one decides to take out a drone.

    We had our bad ash “back to the Fifties “ weekend this last weekend at the state fairgrounds. Second largest car show in the USA. There were signs that said “ No Drones” over the grounds.
    Cannot verify, but the rumor was two that violated the airspace were taken care of with a wrist rocket devise. Cannot verify. Just a funny rumor. Peace. D

    A higher tech solution would be a WiFi blocker. If the drone has RTH (return-to-home if signal is lost) then a GPS frequency blocker might also be needed to down it. Both of these devices are probably illegal in most places.
    Rumor has it that some USPS hubs including Palmetto, GA are using WiFi and/or cellular blocking to *try* to keep the employees productive.
    Expect that there will be bumps in the road. Choose to not let them rattle you.

    As pretty much already mentioned, in a suburban environment with houses close together, it would be pretty ill advised to discharge a firearm.

    You would have to get a bit more inventive with something like a slingshot (even then you need to be really careful of where that shot is coming back to earth), or something that disrupts the electronics.

    In a rural environment, like my cabin property, I would be happily putting my trap skills to work. I could even stage it as an accident by tossing some clays up near the drone... :D
