If it was not for other hobbies latley I would have bought new gear I am happy with what I currentley have will I stay with what I have, probably not. I'am currently eyeing a new Hollon gun safe, but once thats over with a new Amp for the 2 channel will break that dry spell of holding out. John with all the gear you have gone through pretty sure your dry spell will come to an end soon.

Who here hasn't called it "the end of the line" at some point or even multiple times? My end of the line or game over happened in 2011 when I brought home my 1.2tls. It wasn't long before that game over turned into a new beginning.

Funny thing, I started this hobby (obsession) right before I got married (now ex-wife) back in 2011. She watched me go from Monitor series to RTiA series and then LSiM series. Upgrading cables, AVRs to AVPs, adding one amp at a time....etc etc. All through that upgrade process, I'd tell her, "I just need this one more thing and I'm done". The look she gave me was, "either you're retarded or you think I am", followed with, "Uh huh, at least for the next five minutes".

Now, 15 years later, "one more thing and I'm done" has finally been realized lol. Like the OP says, I'll need to hit the lottery to go above and beyond where I'm at.

    Good on you John!!

As someone who watched you through that entire progression I simply call “BS” 🤣

I've reached the point where I don't really need anything new for a main two channel system so I just consider buying things like the Eversolo T8 music streamer then pat myself on the back for waiting when a few months later they put out a new and better T10 model. Now I'll wait for a T12 model! And I won't buy that if it becomes available either.

I've had an Eversolo DMP-A8 in use for a couple of years and find that to be adequate enough. Diminishing returns to bother getting something else.

Right!! The individual model update scenario is the worst. The difference between the Denafrips Pontus 12th and 15th are pretty substantial. My timing on the Venus 15th over the 12th was good as the difference there is also substantial.

I can see updating a specific model in one's set up if one chooses without succumbing to the upgrade bug by going to the next bigger and better unit.......like I just did with my AVP :D

Yeah, my A8 won't be going anywhere for a good amount of time.

The A10 being 2x the cost, and IMO for music, goes backwards with the swap to ESS DACs, is an easy pass for me.

If I was using my A8 as a full time preamp, I could see self justification for some type of an upgrade on the sooner end. However, for critical listening it's only functioning as a streamer/dac, dumping the information to my tube preamp.
