Polk R700 Tweeter Tip Question
Hello everyone,
I’m considering buying a used pair of Polk R700 speakers, but I noticed the tweeter looks different from any others I’ve seen before.
Did Polk ever produce the R700 with this type of tweeter, or does it look like it may have been modified or repaired? I haven’t come across this version before, so I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with it or knows whether this tweeter was used in a specific production run.
Thanks in advance.

That looks like the tweeter from lsim model.

Looks like someone scratched up the plastic bezel in the process of replacing the tweeter with a non-original version. Not worth buying. The Legend/Reserve tweeter is a much improved ring radiator version compared to the LSi or LSiM speakers with a smoother frequency response than previous Polk versions.
There are a bunch of different versions of ring radiator tweeter, such as from Scanspeak, so the owner probably just picked up whatever was cheapest. The tweeters Polk has used aren't really the best version available.

This is what it should look like.

Oh the humanity.
Didn't we have a frankenpolk or restomod disaster thread or something like that? This deserves a spot there.

Soon every model will have to resort to non-factory parts. Looks like a Tymphany version.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

Looks like someone's been chewing on the nip too.
