Introduction - New Here Polk SDA SRS (Blade) daily use home theater

After decades of restoring and trying all kinds of vintage speakers and amps, a few years ago I came across the original owner of some well cared for SDA SRS "Blades". I had never experienced the SDA SRS but remembered the Stereo Magazine adds with Polk in a white labcoat and as a young man full of testosterone loved the size and physical massing of these beasts. I had to bring my own amp as the owner had not powered them for years. It was able to bring a Soundcraftsman 5200. Playing bluetooth audio from my phone we both had ridiculous grins on our faces the whole time as we picked the next song. Brought them home and did a few minor things. I like to use my stuff and these were put in daily duty alongside the TV. A high end Denon receiver in Dolby 5.1 with phantom center and some small but sturdy rear channels makes immersion amazing. I quickly found out that the gutsy Soundcraftsmen was not up to driving the speakers to their potential. I sourced a Carver Signature Edition Sunfire Series II and was in audio nirvanha. That is until the outcome of the battle of the beasts, under the influence of Bourbon inspired courage, was decided. During a 1000W+ presentation of Metallica's Enter Sandman, the Sunfire tapped out. I first took it to THE local high end audio repair shop and they said they had never had to repair one of these amps, but they have had to repair many speakers that had been destroyed by my amp LOL. Long story short, had to send it to one of two remaining "specialists" in North America who knew how to repair it (the high end shop struggled). Got the amp back fully refreshed and it has been audio glory since then. Validation came when one son was walking the dog two blocks away and he called me and said "Dad, are you playing Megadeath right now?" and yes I was. he said it was quite loud where he was in the neighborhood and he was two full blocks away. It was nice weather so my windows were open. Anyway, when I die, I am reserving three gravsites. Two for my speakers and me in center with the amp in my casket.
