    Beautiful BTW..

Once it's wall mounted, it will be well out of the way and safe.

But I might leave this one down for a bit. Nothing like a good excuse to go for a bigger TV... B)

I like that the rack spot is on the opposite end of your table.

I loved to hit the cue ball as hard as I could to break it up, as most others do too. I've seen a few cue balls take flight in my lifetime.

    You should be ok. ;)B)

I just found this interesting video about using too much force on the break. Have I been doing wrong my whole life? :o

It really depends how good it was racked. If you are playing with experienced people who know how to rack tight, you don't need to hit that hard. Most average bar players rack them sloppy.

I JUST noticed there are 2 racking spots on the table. I didn't know they did that.

It's ok with me, though. :)

Yeah, while I was chatting with the installer, he mentioned that the windows to the left of the table were in more danger than the TV. :D

He mentioned how it's extremely rare for a ball to shoot off the table directly back, it usually is a glancing blow that causes it to ricochet off to the side.

As for the 2 spots, that's funny that you've never seen that, as it's how I've always seen a pool table!

    Maybe it's a regional thing?

We only break from one end, but the other is physical reference point for the other side of the table from the racking point.

Clear PPF for the windows then?

Was able to get the TV hung this week and cables managed.

I’m probably going to look for slightly shorter stands for the speakers, or try and convince my father to give up a pair of his Totem Arro speakers… :D

Going to grab a basic streamer/dac as well.

Probably the WiiM Pro Plus, if I get the urge, maybe jump to the Ultra.

It will connect to my old Pioneer SC-87 receiver that the TV is currently connected to (utilizing the HDMI’s ARC).

Curious what kind of lighting you have over the table?
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

The cat is going to get booted clean out of this house if he isn't more careful... :D

He wants to be on top of the table, thankfully he hasn't been on the felt. It's always covered, but even covered, if anyone catches him on the table he gets grabbed off by the scruff and removed. He knows enough at this point that if walk anywhere near the room and he is on it, he makes sure to get off all on his own.

As for the stands, every once in a great while, they aren't exactly in the way but they kind of are, and the tweeters are in a dangerous spot. dropping them a bit would go a long way in eliminating any issue.

At the moment, the lighting is pretty poor. It's my next task to tackle.

Realistically, I don't see anything going directly above the table. It's a vaulted ceiling with no current electrical and the bays are all insulated. In hindsight, when our roof was replaced years ago they replaced some of the sheathing over that room, and it was the perfect time to run electrical. Too late now!

We are going to start with floor standing lighting and go from there. I don't recall it being an issue with the old table, but it is where we will start.

Good thing the tweeters are already inverted!

Is the TV going to stay there, or is the whole table moving from that spot before the slate gets installed? I could see either a careless back strike of the cue hits it, or the cue ball skips off and smashes it! Or maybe I've just played with some who are a bit too aggressive with the cue. :D

I saw this happen in real life in high school at a friend's house. We were all out at this one kid's house in his Gian room over the garage, and he had a speaker temporarily up on a table or something near the pool table. This other kid in the bunch goes to draw back for a shot. Cue right through the woofer during Fugazi's Waiting Room. The expression of disbelief on the face of the kid who lived there and of the perpetrator... the rest of us couldn't breathe from dying laughing so hard.

I should probably shield my mercury rectifier tubes from a foosball flying off the table, it might be more serious than just destroying a woofer or tv screen.

When we had a table lighting was paramount to me. I did not want any shadows esp along the rails. Not sure how to avoid that though, with nothing overhead.

Yeah, I agree that above the table would be ideal.

It would just be a bigger job than what I think I'm willing to dive into right now.

If I find I'm bothered, I'll dive into it. My brother (plumber) is best friends with a great electrician and I can get his help wiring something into the ceiling.

Do you currently have a light from/on the ceiling in the pool room?

No, there is no electrical in that ceiling at all.

There is also no attic/crawl space over that room.

I've seen lighting run with a painted flat conduit in situations like that. It can be done. I'm sure an electrician can give you options.

    Real bummer!
My thought was wire mould out from existing onto ceiling to a box and new overhead table light.

My wife would have a fit. :D

Getting her to agree with the cord cover/conduit for the TV was hard enough!

I typically run all of my wall mounted TV wiring in the wall. Getting her to understand that it's a totally different animal on our external walls, and is a terrible idea, was a tall order.

Something for the ceiling, she will mandate that it's all hidden.

It can be done, and I know a good electrician that could handle it. It's just a can of worms that I really don't want to open right now. Maybe this coming winter, when a lot of stuff slows down for us. It's just something that I'm not willing to tackle at this time.

Good luck. I guess there is always the option of wearing a good head lamp when you play :D
