Our Pine trees looked like they were smoldering a few days to a week ago. That's peek here, but there are others, of course. We have these 100 ft. tall trees that look yellowish right now. :s

I do think it's lightening up pretty fast here in Wilmington, NC this year.

Left my silver 2011 Jetta Sportwagen at the shop on Monday. Went to pick it up on Thursday. There were four Jetta Sportwagens in the ready lot, all of them yellowish green. Had to find mine by the license plate.

Having quite a few allergies since childhood and allergy tests/shots several times I offer:

    Which Trees Cause Allergies?
Springtime allergy symptoms are caused by hardwood trees which have light, windblown pollen spores.

Surprisingly, the yellow blanket that covers our cars and decks each spring is pine pollen which does not trigger allergy symptoms in most people.

Pine pollen spores are heavy, and most often fall to the ground. Few people are truly allergic to pine pollen; however, many find it irritating to their nose and eyes. This yellow dust when breathed into your nose and mouth can be considered an ‘irritant.’ The smaller spores, like from hardwood trees, are more likely to be inhaled deeper, and are more likely to impact the immune system triggering an allergic reaction.

(Right or wrong: I believe my allergies resulted from my father smoking in our house from the time I was born.)

Once the catkins have fallen off the oak trees that's usually the sign for me that spring pollen season won't affect me anymore. Fortunately I'm not highly allergic but I've had friends over the years who could barely function this time of year when they started living in areas with lots of deciduous trees. The heavy green stuff that hangs around longer doesn't bother me unless I use a leaf blower and stir it up into clouds of fine dust. Wearing a dust mask helps avoid that.

I have more tree pollen issues in Virginia than when I lived in central Ohio because there are far more trees around. Open farm fields dominate from Columbus, OH, westward.
