AI for assistance

Anyone else using AI besides myself and one other I know about to assist in your set up?

And if so, how has it helped, if at all?

For me, it was about synergy. It started with my DAC upgrade; I plugged in my entire set up and asked which direction I should go for the DAC. I couldn't' be happier, well maybe a little :D
Set up: 11.2 HT + 2ch

AVP: Marantz AV8802A - Sources: BRP Panasonic UB9000/CDP Emotiva ERC 3 - DAC: Denafrips Venus - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-6, XPA-2 x 2 - Speakers: Focal/PolkAudio, Mains/2ch - Kanta No2, C - Sopra, SS - LSiM702, WS - RTiA9, RS - RTiA9, FH - RTiA3 - Subs: Epik Empires x 2

Cables: Mogami AES from CDP to DAC - AQ McKenzie XLR from DAC to AVP to amp for 2ch, Emotiva XLR's for the rest - Douglasconnection: Furutech Alpha 36 12g speaker wire for 2ch, Furez 10x2/Canare 4S11 speaker wire for the rest - AQ Forest48 HDMI for the display, AQ Carbon48 HDMI from BRP to AVP - VR3 filtered power cables for CDP, BRP and AVP, Emotiva power cables for the amps - AudioQuest 707 power conditioner.

EXPERIENCE: next to nothing, but I sure enjoy audio and video MY OPINION OF THIS HOBBY: I may not be a smart man, but I know what quicksand is.

I think it's a good way to aggregate a bunch of information from the internet and give someone a decent starting point.

Especially in such a subjective hobby, I think it's important to remember that the internet is full of nonsense, and AI will be pulling from that information as well.

I'll never, ever understand why anyone would use AI for said purpose.

... and, at least so far, AI is utterly incapable of differentiating between signal and noise.

I think it's pretty clear that, to date, the best use of AI is in the creation of fresh new p -R- 0N.

Wait... did I just type that?

Exactly! The input taken is only as good as the input given.

That said, when I got my Memory Player, it didn't come with a manual. I tried winging it to no avail, so I went and asked Chat GPT for some advice. Through asking the right questions, not only was I able to get her up and running, I actually installed a new remote control software and linked it to a remote program that I could use my laptop with....also remotely. No more screen, mouse and keyboard in the listening room.

Not only that, I was able to set it up for optimal sound settings, defeating any previous settings and going into areas I never would have found on my own. Even the previous owner didn't know how to do some of the stuff I did. I would have been able to do none of that, without the assistance of AI. I am pretty good with computers, but this stuff was waaaaay over my head. AI broke it down for me in layman's terms that I could actually understand and execute.

Now, it is as easy to operate as my streamer and I don't even need to be in the room to operate it. AI made it all easy-peasey.

^^^^ See? A.I. can be helpful. And may not have human ears to hear with however was able to point me in the right direction regarding a DAC choice and it turned out to be a grand slam homerun.

Eh, I wouldn't ever take advice from AI when it comes to sound though. That's where forums come in to help with the collective observations (along with advice from a a few trusted ears), listening to gear with your own ears and experience comes into play. You may have just gotten lucky.

I could be incorrect on this assumption, but I don't think there is one member of this board that would have stated that Delta Sigma would offer a better sound than an R2R. That's where the empirical evidence from this forum would come into play. I have had both. Many different models of Delta Sigma at all kinds of price points. After hearing my first R2R? I'll never go back to a DS. As Trey states, it's akin to listening to musical wallpaper. I agree.

I must have missed that one. I was led to the R2R. I made a post where I did an A/B test while using the DS DAC on my UB9000 vs the R2R from the Denafrips. While the DS sounded really great, the R2R blew it into the weeds, DS=2D soundstage, R2R=3D soundstage.

Awesome, I honestly can't believe I didn't think of this. When I get home from my shift I'm going to ask CGPT how to connect my K13 r2r dac to it's app "Fiio Control" as I still haven't figured it out. :D

    I'll post my results here.

I did ask AI about the suggested placement of my L600s and while I further tweaked it from its suggestions it did at least put me on the right path.

I do get a lick out of its response to a follow up question when it replies...why Bob, that's a good point...etc

I don't use it much at all, but my wife loves Chat GPT.

She started using it through her company and learned a lot on how to utilize it. I guess it works better if you give it specific prompts, like "pretend you are a world class chef and teach me how to cook XYZ".

Actually, she got the recipe for our dinner Sunday night from GPT, beef and barley soup. It was delicious!

^^That's why I don't use commercial routers or "free" gateways from the ISP. I use OpenWRT on SMB/Enterprise hardware.
