Almost everyone who has known me for more than five minutes knows that I am a massive car guy. My was the Corvette and during the 1970s I spent countless hours drooling over the photographs and technical information coming forward about the upcoming mid engine Corvette. When it was finally green lit for production in 1978 I was only 13 years old, but I was so excited to see that America was finally gonna have a car that would compete with the best in the world. The car was delayed and then finally canceled in 1980. It was a disappointment, but I still had my model kit. Today I took my boys to the Peterson automotive museum and as I walk into the next exhibit hall, I was greeted with the site of this platinum silver Marvel that I had drilled over as a kid. I don’t think a car has quite moved my soul quite the way this car did when I laid eyes on it for the very first time. My oldest boys said I was on the verge of tears because my eyes turned red and watery and my voice started to crack as I looked at it. I spent the next 45 minutes going over every inch of that car. My boy asked me how much the car would be worth to me if I had the money to buy it and I told him if I had $50 million in my pocket right now would be taking it home.
