  • I'm new here, what is the issue with the SDA 2? When I was looking for speakers I steered clear of SDA when I heard some people feel like their head was in a vice. I seem to be susceptible to that sort of thing so focused on other speakers.

pitdog2 said they are the least desireable, then toolfan66 said it was 132 too much. not sure how i can prove i'm not ai. but I am new so i understand the skepticism. best I can say is look up my username on a search engine.

as to what I mean with the vice, it's my understanding the sda purposefully does noise cancellation so it can make the soundstage seem wider. that sounds a lot like how noise cancelling headphones work. I can't use active noise cancellation comfortably, it makes me feel like my head is getting squeezed. and just because I steered clear of the sda, doesn't make them bad, like i said, i'm sensitive to that type of thing. I ended up getting a pair of monitor 10. now i'm waiting on the parts to rebuild the crossovers.
  • Yeah, the SDA effect is not the same experience as noise cancelling headphones. Not anywhere the same.

Yes the original 3 driver SDA2 is the least desirable SDA. The SDA tweeter is useless, it was discontinued after the 2nd generation of SDA because of undesirable affects.

    Not I.

Selling my Polk SDA 2B speakers. Overall excellent condition with scratches on cabinets. See photos. Speakers come with homemade Interconnect cable (see photo) The SDA line of Polk was considered the flagship and these are among the best sounding Polks ever produced. These are the more coveted 2b model. A major improvement over the Model 2. I'm only selling these because I have another pair. Will demo. REALLY Priced to sell. $250. In Toms River, NJ

    On Audiokarma.org

I had better be glad (not) that they are where you are not close to me because i would buy em in a frickin heartbeat and then I would have two sets!

Someone is a bit uninformed. You need no vice to listen to SDA speakers. Come by and I will show you. Yes, you get the better SDA effect when you sit in the "cat bird seat" but, the SDA's sound great everywhere. Even the next door neighbors will tell you that! By the way, I do not necessarily mean that you are misinformed. Just whoever said that was a bit harsh in their judgement in my opinion. I am probably the last person on CP that would call someone a smuck or be unkind. I just ain't like that. Glad you are here @crazifyngers. You will probably have a set of SDA's one day if you hang around and will see what fine speakers they can be.
