Emotiva Airmotiv Speakers vs. Polk Speakers

Has anyone compared the Emotiva Airmotiv tower speakers (T1, T2) with any of Polk towers?
I was thinking of the Polk ES60 but also read super positive reviews about the Arimotiv T2+ Which cost about the same, but I won’t be able to audition them due to no free shipping/return outside the US.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

What will they be powered with?

I have 350W Emotiva mono block power amps so power or impedance is not an issue.

Both companies have a generous in home trial period. If you can swing it bring them both home & let your ears decide. It's a little bit of a hassle but well worth it.

It’s relevant only if you’re in the US, I’m not so it makes it irrelevant unfortunately. No way to audition Emotiva outside the US and get your full investment back (including shipping which is very expensive).

You just never heard a good metal dome
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

It's all in the implementation. Can't judge a speaker simply by the tweeter's dome material.

There are plenty of reviews on Youtube of the Airmotiv speakers. I'd start there to get a general idea of what their sound signature is like. The folded ribbon tweeter will sound and perform very different to Polk speakers with soft domes. Only you can figure out what your priorities are for sound, if you'd want a whole home theater system made up of Airmotiv speakers or just a pair to focus on two channel music, the source gear you'd be using with speakers, and the room/space you'd intend to use them in. I suspect far more speakers are sold these days without an in person audition than with, especially in this price range. Another option is to first buy a pair of the bookshelf speakers to get an idea of how the speaker line sounds. Less investment of money that way.

Here's an example of a good and honest review that gives a solid idea of what the speakers do well:

  • I bought a pair of polk and they sound amazing, very balanced, not harsh in any area , andvthey sound like this on every system I have... the emotiva I own are the complete opposite. They sound very unbalanced, harsh in areas and boom when you try to get bass . They are super picky to which amp they need and pre amp. I've tried them on almost everything and they seem to go best with a cheap yamaha. No good with nad, pioneer, aiyima, fosi, vintage and new harmon kardon.....I can only tolerate them on my cheapest yamaha for some reason, and even then id rather listen to the polks that are half the cost.
  • I would have and fully intended to return my emotivas but the loss made me say screw it , living in canada , the shipping cost to return wasnt worth it. So now I have a pair of speakers I could use in the garage I guess.

So I've had Emotiva T2's and SVS Prime towers in my main listening space and both the wife and I agree that my Polk RTA 11TL's are our preferred choice there. I have some original Emotiva Airmotiv 5's as nearfield computers monitors and they rock but the later passives never came close.

That said I also had a set of the Emotiva Airmotiv T1+ and C1+ that I gave to my son for his home theater in their basement and they would be hard to beat for the $.
