Isn't this the third or 4th time Verizon has had a major outage? Seems they have some major issues that started about 3 years ago. One would think after the second time, they would have paid extreme attention and fixed the issue for good.

Says the last Verizon outage was in 2024. I wasn't affected by that one. I believe this one is much larger.

I have Verizon and I’m switching. Reception was really outstanding when I first signed up then about six months later it went downhill and got worse until it was worse reception than the U.S. Cellular I left. I’ve talked to them a whole bunch and they deny it’s anything to do with them. It costs a lot and not getting decent reception.

Well that explains that. I'm between the 2 dots between Chicago and St. Loius.
I blame the Venezuelans for the outage..... :#

No Verizon cellphone service for me since around noon but I think the system is slowly coming back up. A couple co-workers had service for a bit longer than me but theirs eventually went offline too.

Note the phone service seems to be fine in Caracas. :#

Edit: still down. My phone has connected to WiFi so got email and internet access.

Looked at that outage map -- looks like Pittsburgh, NH, was open for business. I know from experience that one's cellphone says "welcome to Canada" when one gets up that-a-ways. :)

In the past when I had issues with my cell carrier I'd check out Verizon but they were always more money so I never made the switch. I'm really glad they were more expensive now.

Didn't have an issue here in southwestern Tennessee.

If your streaming comes from said net, then you might be out of luck. One of the main reasons I run my own server.
Before you say it is something that only affects Mobile users... currently, about 12-15% of the population gets their home internet from a wireless gateway or by using their phone as a hotspot, using cell towers only.
