Interesting thing is they say Amina on the front. Benny Amina is a local HiFi repair guy who also makes customer tube amps and preamps. I wonder if he got a set and decided to "improve them?" Can't see how unless that is some super high end beryllium tweeter on top.

Looks like a Dayton Audio cap on the XO as well, not that, that is necessarily a bad thing, but it's not original afaik.

IIRC from my old pair, the tweeter was the shining feature of that speaker...

Doing that, well, seems completely asinine.

Can't imagine needing a super tweeter on a modern pair of speakers

I didn't even know they still had those these days until I got an Upscale Audio email a couple weeks ago promoting some Fyne Audio super tweeters. Last I had heard about them was back in the Radio Shack days ...

Those RS super tweeters bring about $100 a pair now a days.

    Here's the ad and pictures
    Details
Condition - Used – like new
    Brand - Polk
    Type - Bookshelf speaker
    Has Bluetooth (Y/N) - No
    Colour - Brown

Honestly, don’t know much about it, some one on Facebook market place told me they are Polk and I checked they are, interesting modifications have been done, they sound pretty damn good for what they are, but have not heard a set of them that have not been modded so honestly have no idea if they are better or worse. Leaving town Wednesday, and will be gone for about 2 week, if interested let me know.

Thing is about an MTM design that those LSi bookies...well, all the LSi speakers were set up with, the tweeter placement in relation to the woofers and even the ports matters a ton, especially in regards to how crossovers are setup.

Having the tweeter location vertically is important but so is where it is placed horizontally, especially when you factor in the drivers' center axis and alignment in regards to that.

Stuff a pod tweeter on the top like that is only going to ruin the imaging and with the "Ring Radiator" tweeters the LSi series came with, dome tweeters are certainly going to skew the soundstage because they are going to change the off-axis response.

This is a perfect example of "just because you can doesn't mean you should."

Screw that, I would never buy a highly modified speaker not to mention a pair I was actually after.
Unless there are known issues with a model and people found ways to improve on them like the LSI 15 woofer thing, then I'm all out.

The LSI9's are great speakers when crossover over around 100 hz and ran with subwoofer. Or even higher like 120-150 range. Then they become remarkably like the LSI 15's.
