MOFI SACD - Heart, Dreamboat Annie

I swear, MOFI does this on purpose. Just when I’m on the brink of giving up on them for good (for new releases, that is), they hit one out of the park.

The recent release of Dreamboat Annie on SACD is fantastic! Tight, punchy bass, clean and well-defined cymbals, and great midrange around the acoustic guitars and vocals…. Why oh why didn’t the Van Halen releases sound like this? (I know, there’s only so much they can do with the masters they are handed). Ironically, I read that this release of Dreamboat Annie wasnt even from the master, but rather a working copy. Nevertheless, it sounds fantastic, and it makes it that much harder for me to give up on MOFI once and for all….

    Nice! I wonder how it compares to a copy that is FLAC 192khz 24bit?

    I’m not sure, as all I had heard prior was original vinyl and Redbook CD (and cassette & 8-track in the car as a kid, lol)

    Per some chatter on this album that I read elsewhere: Note that it's not from the "original master", which was apparently unavailable or has been lost forever.
