What would you pay for a clean pair?

Depends how badly you want a pair. By most accounts, the newer R200 and L200 are superior sounding. I was looking for a pair years ago and had a price of ~$400 in mind, but then I got a pair of R200 when Polk offered a sweet forum deal. Haven't looked for a pair since then.

Man I've heard a set of decked out 9s... I'm not sure the r200 is in that ball park.
I had the AE version in here for a while and wasn't super in love- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
If I win the r200s from Polk's insta give away I'll let you know what I think.

"Decked out", not stock. Also, I believe most of the guys here preferred the original R200 over the AE version. Maybe I'm off, since I haven't heard the LSi9, but many here have experienced both and wrote about it back when the R200 came out. Wasn't there a demo pair that made the rounds? Maybe thatwas the L200? -
The lsi series is one of polks best, I'll solid cabinets and good overall sound. The 9s are chesty sounding stock with some midbass bloom but mods make quick work of that.
I've heard both the r200 and the AE and I still hold the lsi line is better.
The legend line is voiced alot differently than the reserve and I think the l200 would be a solid competition but imo, the 9s are a better looking speaker.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

I owned them back in the day when I had a full LSI system. I owned the LSI 15's , LSIC , LSI 7's and the LSI 9's. I tried real hard with the LSI 9's which I felt were the worse sounding speakers out of the bunch on its own. Absolutely needed crossover help which I in turn did externally. Around 100hz cutoff some of the mid bass bloom calmed down which I think was the speaker trying to recreate frequencies it shouldn't have. I felt it was like a smearing thing.
Now leave them stock , cross them over 100hz and add a great sub blended in at 120Hz and then you have a speaker setup that was better than the LSI15's on their own. I even felt they reveled the Mighty LSI 25's if any of you listened to them. They where damn good and didn't get traction due to they where powered towers. Many of us back then strongly led by me where kinda over powered towers at the time and desired passive speakers.
The All Star of the LSI line believe it or not was the LSI 7. They were remarkable. If I come across a pair in excellent shape, I'm gonna grab them. I missed out on a solid clean pair a few months ago, I waited to long to go get them and they sold. I regret that.
There is a clean pair of LSI 9's near me for $350.00 which I think is a fine price for a pretty damn good speaker. Again they are touchy , I didn't mention placement issues as if you have them to close to a wall, they tend to bloat a bit but crossing them over upwards helps a lot.Dan

Dan did you ever try Def tech power monitors?
I'm a big fan of the 500 and 900.
Definitive 5.25 inch midrange driver was a weak performer compared to the 4.5 and 6.5.
I have a set of 500 right now that I'll never sell. Such a great little speaker- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Dan,
Since nobody else said anything about a price, I'll just say, in my mind, $375 is probably a good price if they are in really clean condition. I don't think I've seen too many sell for less, at least not on visible markets like FB, Audiogon, or USAudiomart, unless they were rough condition. -

Thanks man, They are close to me enough that a short drive a few bucks and I can play around with them once again but in my Office this time which I think I can tame them nicely. I have a few different Subs I can mate them with and cross them over well to adjust to this enviroment.Dan

Yes I have, back in the day we sold a lot of Def Tech and the Bookshelf series were popular. I liked them alot. This is back when the Mythos line was still new and fresh.
There is the newer D9's for sale right now, interesting speaker. I like the fit and finish on them.Dan
