The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.—Martin Luther King Jr. -
I try to purchase most of my used records in local record stores, so I can visually examine them. Plus it's still fun to do once in a while. There are about 8-12 in the Omaha-Lincoln, NE & Council Bluffs, IA area I live in. I also like to go to two large used record flea markets held here in the spring and fall.
Most "on-line" record sellers DO use the most common record "grading" system. Most of us know what that is. Goldmine considers VG+ and E similar (no E+ or E- used).
I saw the one below on eBay today, some seller's really try to stretch things a bit.
Their addition of the E+ and E- grades really changes things IMO.
Has anyone seen any other odd record grading methods? I prefer to use the term "grading" vs. "rating".
Edit: You really can't tell 100% from looking at a record how well it will play or sound.
I've got pristine records that have tons of record noise and others that look scruffy that you
can hardly hear anything between cuts and the music is very dynamic sounding.

I refuse to buy used LP’s online because I’ve been stung to many times do to improper grading.
