So, a friend of mine and his wife are out in the boontillies of Oregon tonight, and at the local podunk dive, this is their menu. LOL

Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

^^^ Ahh, the Domestic Hovercat! Fairly common, but rarely photographed in action.

My son's 2 Mantis egg sac just hatched. He'll be keeping a couple and releasing the rest in the neighborhood.

Ospreys are SERIOUS fisherbirds. To watch one fall out of the sky onto a potential meal is something everyone needs to see. I'll be honest here, growing up we only got to see big raptors in books. I do not go a week here in central Illinois without seeing Eagles fly by, lock talons in the sky or any other Eagle fun, Ospreys at the lakes, nesting pairs fishing for their young, it really is incredible. Coopers, Sharp shinned and other Hawks besides Red Tailed which have always been pretty plentiful here.

I didn't manage to get a photo, but we were down at Huntley Meadows in Alexandria (roughly a year ago) and saw an osprey, fish in talons, being harassed by an eagle. The latter did finally manage to pester the osprey enough that the fish got dropped. Needless to say, the eagle swooped down, grabbed the fish, and lit out.

Eagles are way more opportunistic than I ever imagined as a kid. -

Much of their reputation is undeserved
They're pretty smarmy birds, left to their own devices. Beautiful, though.
Heck, they don't even have an impressive call. Almost always, when you "hear" a (bald) eagle call in a movie or on a TV show (e.g., the opening credits of Northern Exposure, if you remember that), it's an overdubbed red-tailed hawk!
Ben Franklin lobbied for the adoption of the turkey in lieu of the bald eagle as the national symbol for a reason.

I'm glad Mr. Franklin lost that one. Can you imagine an F-15 Turkey? The Gear... How many flies need to be buzzing a dead horse before you guys stop beating it? -
If you've ever been walking through the woods & startled one into flight, the idea of an F-15 Strike Turkey isn't that far fetched.
Let's just say it was a good thing I was wearing my brown pants. -
Well we do have a warthog😁
