The Audio-Technica Hotaru Turntable incorporates a floating structure, achieved through powerful magnetic repulsion. The "color organ" is back!

I've always wondered how the magnets affect the cartridge. I remember how Grado cartridges would become hum generators when used with certain tables with strong magnetic fields.

Good point^^^.

It has a built in speaker in the bottom. Figures.

Actually, it has an integrated speaker system with two 63.5-millimeter full-range speakers and a pair of tweeters, a line out port for connecting it to an external sound system, and a dedicated subwoofer output. But yeah, built-in. Whaddaya expect for $9,999?CottageChz wrote: »It has a built in speaker in the bottom. Figures.

Had a GREAT tree cutting Co. show up on schedule to cut down an Oak tree we planted 10 years ago and also to trim back a Live Oak tree we let grow 15 or more years ago. A limb was getting too large and hanging over my cottage and getting close to its roofline.
11 guys and a ton of equipment showed up. The trucks and trailers lined my small street.
They had a 60-year-old guy climb up into that Live Oak and rigged the ropes like a PRO and cut and lowered all that huge limb down section by section down to a bunch of guys standing on the cottage roof. He was a VERY SKILLED ARBOR!
They showed up at 4 pm and left at 5:30 pm. Some had to wait a bit for the shedder and its hauling truck to go dump and return to pick up the huge pile of stump shreddings.
I witnessed another AMAZING crew of workers. Just like the roofers, everybody had a certain job to do and nobody stood around doing nothing. I was out there the whole time amazed while watching it all.
Just like the roofers, I watched them too.

Lots of posts @ Curbside Classics on the highs, lows, and mis-steps of Mopar around the time of the 1960 recession.
They're all fascinating reading.
Here's a good one to start with.

My dad bought my mom a very used faded red 1960 Plymouth Valiant in the mid 1960's to drive around town. It had no power steering or power brakes. The springs and shocks were shot, it leaked oil... He bought it from a friend/co-worker for $25.00.
My brothers and I hated to ride in it. We called it the Whoopee Wagon because whenever it hit a bump in the road, it bounced, my mom would yell Whoopee. She drove it maybe a year and then demanded something better. She had stronger arms from steering it. It's little slant six engine ran well. It had the push button transmission too.

The internet says....but it would be neat to stick a flux meter by the cartridge.

About three years ago I had a groundhog digging a large hole next to my foundation. I put a piece of cantaloupe in my trap. Look what I caught.
He or she was p i s s e d! That cage smelled really bad. I had to spray it with ammonia.
No way was that smell going inside my SUV to be relocated! I just let it out. My neighbor effectively removed the whistlepig from his yard the next year. -
