Although, as nice as the Moccamaster is, I have a rather unceasing affinity for my classic stovetop percolator. I bought the Moccamaster for the "buy it for life" factor. I later picked up a Coletti Bozeman Percolator for use while camping and realized that the real "buy it for life" option has been the classic percolator all-along. The Moccamaster has only been countertop jewelry for some time now. I still can't quite bring myself around to selling it though.

One thing I discovered about the Moccamaster is that it's best, if it's not going to be used for a while, to tip it upside down over the sink to dump the water out of the boiler section. There are a few ounces that stay in there after a brew. Not necessary if it's used every day or two.

That needs a good coat of paint or some stain and polyurethane.

Unless it’s designed to look that way and we like the looks of it, but thanks for the helpful advise.

I've had mine for about 6 years, love it.

It doesn't see daily use, our Breville Barista Pro espresso machine gets the most use. But there are times that we just like to brew a pot of coffee.

I went with the insulated stainless version and I find it pretty easy to clean, with a brush. I also use Urnex Cleancaf as a deep cleaner, after I descale it.

Pretty sure that's quite possibly not real wood but particle board or MDF wrapped in a textured vinyl laminate with a picture of wood on it. Staining would only stain the glue at the "mitered" joints and the acetone solvent in most polyurethanes would melt and shrivel the vinyl laminate causing it to delaminate and wrinkle.

That's my TED Talk for today. Thanks for coming.

Also, to stay on topic, I'm with drop1 on this. My Texsport 9 cup percolator has been going strong since 2014. It's hard to break with no moving parts or electronics. In this house, we OBEY THE LAWS OF THERMODYNAMICS!

I can remember when all my relatives had a stove top percolator. Then one by one they all went high tech with an electric percolator that sat on the countertop. Boy, those were swell days.....

Amateurs! Here's what we have used for the last 13 years. Rancilio Miss Silvia and grinder. Full manual operation so you need to be awake to make a proper espresso. Sorry drip doesn't do it for us. We have a Bialetti stove top and an kpyva40zr1fb.jpg

^^^^ I was a pro expresso drinker once, used to drink 6 shot vanilla breve's....that was years ago when I was a young racer. But, yesterday, my gf and I went out for coffee, I ordered a 6 shot vanilla breve. As we drove off, I could tell it didn't get the vanilla. I had drank it down 3/4's when I decided to return, ordered a 3 shot vanilla breve, I didn't ask, but they didn't charge for me for the triple. I added it to my 16oz mug and finished it, satisfied with the flavor.

Later that day, Ayesha said to me, "Honey, I say this with love, please limit yourself to 6 shots next time....."

Wind him up....and watch him go.....poor girl, she was so very patient. I'm already a bit hyper as it is, I mean, I was even telling my own self to shut the F up!!! :D

Geez guess I'm sensitive to caffeine because a double is max I can take. Heck even a traveler's mug in the morning, I usually can't finish it.

My head would explode with that much caffeine! I usually limit myself to 2 double shot cappuccinos per day.

Well, I overdid it only once. When I raced in the early days, late 20's mid 30's, is when I drank the 6'ers. I also worked graves. Got off of work and grabbed a 6'er and headed for the track for practice. It was raining so I sat in the van waiting for my crew chief. He shows up, jumps in the van and says, Look what I brought you! It was another 6'er. I drank it........then just kinda slumped into my seat.....he looks at me and says, Hey man, you okay? I just took a long nap and got up fine.
