Signa S4 not showing as a bluetooth device on Mac Book Air M3 15"

I just upgraded to a MacBook Air M3 15". I've been using an older Mac Book Air M1 (2020). My Signa S4 sound bar has been working flawlessly from the M1 - love the sound! However, the soundbar does not show up in the bluetooth devices on the M3 MacBook Air 15". Both computers are running Mac OS Sequoia 15.3.1. I have disconnected the soundbar from the M1 bluetooth devices and shut down that computer. Occasionally the M3 shows "Video Display" or "Gary's TV" as a bluetooth option. I have no idea where that comes from. Have never seen it on the older M1 Mac Book Air. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

    Thank you!
In the meantime I've found that the only way to get my music to the soundbar is to use video mirroring. Seems rather stupid to me if that truly is the only way. I would expect that the soundbar itself would be identifiable as a bluetooth device - just like my MacBook Air M1.
  • I'll pass that along.

Same problem here - my Macbook Pro M2 and Macbook Air M3, both running MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2 doesn't find my Signa S4 as a Bluetooth device. The screen mirroring works, but the sound is not as good and I shouldn't have to turn my TV to play music.

    1. Reset Bluetooth on MacBook Air M3

Sometimes, macOS Bluetooth needs a reset.
    Try this:

    Turn Bluetooth off and on

Go to System Settings > Bluetooth, toggle it Off, wait a few seconds, then turn it On again.

    Restart the Mac

A simple reboot can refresh Bluetooth connectivity.

    2. Put the Signa S4 in Pairing Mode Again

Even if you removed it from the old Mac, the soundbar might still be trying to connect to that device.

Turn off the Signa S4 and unplug it for 60 seconds.

Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the remote until the LED indicator flashes (this means it's in pairing mode).

On your MacBook Air M3, go to System Settings > Bluetooth and check if "Polk Signa S4" appears.

Click Connect if it shows up.

    3. Remove Possible Interference

Since you’re seeing "Video Display" or "Gary’s TV", another device (like an Apple TV, Smart TV, or other Bluetooth device) might be interfering.

Try turning off nearby smart TVs, game consoles, or other Bluetooth devices temporarily to see if that helps.

    4. Reset Mac’s Bluetooth Module (Advanced)

If your Mac’s Bluetooth is acting up, a reset can help:

Open Terminal (Press Command + Space, type Terminal, and hit Enter).

    Type:

    sudo pkill bluetoothd

Press Enter and enter your Mac password when prompted.

Restart your Mac and try pairing again.

    5. Factory Reset the Soundbar (Last Resort)

If none of the above work, try resetting the Signa S4:

Press and hold the Bluetooth and Volume Down buttons on the soundbar for 10+ seconds.

The LED should flash, indicating a reset.

    Try pairing again.

(Note: The S4 WILL connect and play audio from my iPhone. I powered down the iPhone while doing this test) Tried rebooting both Macs - the Macbook Air will now pair with the S4 but the Macbook Pro still will not. But audio played on the Macbook Air will not play on the soundbar - it still comes out of the Macbook speakers, even though it shows being paired with the S4. I then did a factory reset on the S4 - it still paired with the Macbook Air and still would not play audio. But since the factory reset, the subwoofer does not work at all. I tried unplugging and replugging both the soundbar and the subwoofer and still the subwoofer does not work.
