That's a wonderful but kind of wrenching album in toto.
I had, indeed, thought of two other songs from it that are wonderful but difficult, too.

I'd almost add Who Holds Your Hand? although I feel as though that song has more of an uplifting subtext. I like the live version from a gogo best of all, I think.

Y'know -- Angels Running just might be her best album. :)

Ok, this is probably a stupid song and going to make some eyes roll but...this one makes me think every time.

Back in the late 80's early 90's when I was a kid in the Boy Scouts, we went to summer camp several times at Rodney Scout Reservation in Maryland which is, literally, in The Chesapeake Bay. Like literally. I watched the sun set daily over the parade field which looked out over the Chesapeake every day. The only prettier sight was the sun set over the lake at Brookeville Scout Reservation in the middle of the NJ Pine Barrens.

Anyway, why this song gets me is because... sailing. I never really did it until one year at Summer Camp at Rodney and my friend Chris Gray begged me to go with him because he needed to get time in for his merit badge and nobody else was free at the free sailing time except me. Problem was, I didn't take the swimming test because it was dumb and I knew I wasn't going anywhere near he pool that year. So Chris faked my swimming test on one of the tabs he ganked from the sailing base and gave it to the instructor.

They let us go out on a Hobie Cat which is a small catamaran. I knew nothing about sailing but Chris just told me what to do.

Once I got the hang of it, we were up and down the coast of the camp, about 3 miles of coastline. The two of us, one hull in the water, the other about 5 feet high and we are standing on the outside of the high hull, barefoot in swim trunks with arms wrapped in rigging and holding on to the sails and running about 40 to 50 knots on this little sailboat in the setting sun racing power boats on the bay with nothing but me, Chris and a weather beaten HobieCat on the Chesapeake Bay.

I heard this song before and thought it just sounded nice. But as I got older and I think back to that summer, man this just hits hard. Listen to the lyrics, Christopher Cross is dead on. Makes me think about my friend Chris and losing touch when he moved away. We we're only like 15 but I wonder what he's doing, if he's doing well, if he has a family. I hope so, he was a good guy.

    Anyway, Christopher Cross - Sailing

This kid can do it all. Highly recommend taking a trip down the Ren rabbit hole. This is a single live take on his mental health battle.

If you need a cry, watch For Joe. Need to chill, watch cover of I Shot the Sheriff(red suspenders version), or Back on 74. Rap your thing, The Hunger.
