Caig Pro Gold, useful tweek or garbage?

Let's take a step back. Before I discovered the Caig products, back in the day, there was Tweek. My teenage mind, believing everything I read, said hell yeah! I used it religiously on every connection. Heard(saw) nothing negative and went with it. Then it was unavailable.

Then came Caig. Pro Gold was the logical substitute. I have been and still do use it religiously. But!! I've noticed when I clean connections previously treated with Pro Gold, I get a nasty gunk on the swab when I wipe down the jack/ cable end. So, it makes me wonder, is this product crap?

    Which product the 5% spray or the 100% liquid @DaveHo? I've not run into that problem with the 100% liquid.

    If one product has a high hydrocarbon (oil) content and another low pH (acid), then the mixture will form a coagulation of gummy substances. Organic chemistry can be a beach.

    That would be the 100% formula. You must be putting way too much on. I've not ran into that myself.

    Did you buy the gear used? Is it possible another product was applied previously?

    I have used the bottle stuff mentioned and never had any issues

    I put it on then, wipe with a foam swab to remove any excess. Guess it must still be too much.

    Have the foam swabs been previously used in ears? This can make a difference.
    I disabled signatures.
