I have not seen these come up for sale, the Wireworld Spaceport Power conditioner. This retailed for $700 and has 6 outlets (does not come with a power cord). There are no movs in the conditioner and it does not limit current. Paypal f&f, mint condition. $425 shipped to the continuous states.

    Not really noise, cheaper products use them and they work. Unfortunately when they give up the ghost your product is just a multi- plug bar. It will no longer protect your gear. There's no way to tell the mov's have exhausted their life.

    Tom, a well designed circuit that uses an MOV should also have a fuse and an indicator lamp. That's how my CNC machine's power distribution board is designed. If the fuse blows the indicator lamp glows, then you know that the MOV took a hit. On the industrial side where line noise is less of an issue, MOVs work great. At least, until they don't.

    Metal oxide varistor, polyswitch and thermistor are all very similar. They are either closed or open to break the circuit. A thermistor is more heat dependent.

    I don’t know all about the MOV’s and such, but I’m very happy with my SpacePort. These don’t come up for sale often.

    The thing about movs is that you don't know when they are dead and you think you are protected from surges when you are not.
    I looked around and could not find any for sale. I hooked everthing to it but my amp although the dealer assured me I could.
