Help For Old Eyes - USB Microscope

I'm getting old. Trifocal glasses, got some cataracts growing so it's hard to see soldering SMD parts, even with a lighted magnifier. I picked up a crutch, an Andonstar AD407 for ~ $220. 7" screen, adjustable LED lighting, remote control to access menu and snap pics without shaking the thing. All good now, but up close my soldering looks ugly...lol

The "Potato" isolation chip is actually 1/4", or .250 long. Leg spacing like razor blade thickness.

U4 is a tough one...

I like that a lot. I saw a guy repairing a tablet power port with one of those. Made it look really easy, but when you see what size it really is... Still takes some real skill!

Loved the stylus photo. Same thing?

Yes, figured I'd try it though that's not what its for. I've seen better results with just a USB microscope with no screen, but I still got some detail. I didn't get as good results with my microlinear stylus.

oooh, what's a microlinear look like?
with this microscope, can you see any detail in record grooves?

It depends on the lighting to catch the angles of the stylus. This is my AT33PTG/II stylus. It's mounted on an air bearing linear arm. I'm not sure if this USB scope has the power or resolution for grooves. While we can see the stylus, we could use higher resolution.

    that's pretty good!
what's that goopy stuff in the upper stylus photo?

I had something similar to your photo above back when I was first getting into turntables. I was having a strange channel imbalance. I didn't have a USB micro, but used the macro on an old Nikon digital.
