Somehow I just can't imagine getting high fidelity sound out of a smart phone.

Wouldn't be worth it shipping would add about $65 to the price, at least that's what I paid for my dac to get shipped from British Columbia Canada to Michigan.

    Hey all,

So I took the plunge and got the Musical Fidelity M5si, and I noticed I don't have any control of the output of the sound. I know most will say that adding an equalizer is not worth it, but sound is subjective and I'm looking to add one or find some way to control the audio a bit. I don't want to modify the whole sound signature I really just want to be be able to adjust two things.

    1. I'd like to be able to fade the sound left and right. With my current set up my desk is a bit closer to the right speaker so I like to fade the sound to the right left a bit so that it's more balanced when I'm sitting there. Then I can easily center it when I'm just listening from the couch.
    2. I'd like to boost the bass just a touch. I have the M5si hooked up to Polk RTi A9s and I find the bass very neutral and while I'm not at all a basshead I would like to give it a bit more presence.

What kind of product should I be looking for?

If you still seek balance control and EQ, look for a BSR EQ-3000 on the auction sites.

Should be affordable and will not only give you EQ, but also, independent L/R volume attenuation (i.e. balance control).

Here’s mine, you can see the attenuators just below the left corner of the spectrum analyzer:

That BSR looks like an ADC. I wonder if one made the other at some point?

    Yes, at least sort of.
ADC and BSR were synonymous brands for a while (one in the same).

HA! That's one of the exact EQ's I used to run with. I absolutely LOVED watching the spectrum analyzer dance with the music back in the day.

If still looking for an EQ you might look for a DBX-20/20. I always wanted one but never purchased.

That dbx looks nice, but doesn’t look like it can introduce balance control, which is 1 of 2 key requests by the OP.

Otherwise, that would look good with Levinson gear.

I used to have that BSR. I sold it to some kids off of craigslist and they couldn't
have been more happy. I wonder if the OP is still looking as there are some right now
    on the goodwill site.
