The jury is still out...a lot more involved then setting up a pair of box speakers. A huge learning curve for sure.
A different sound signature with every little new placement!
It's a lot of fun though going thru the set-up paces.

I’ve had a similar experience setting up the ML ESLs.
If you haven’t already, try setting up the LRS’ at 90 degree angle to the floor so they are vertically upright.

Placement in the room and in relationship to a single seat listening spot to find the best stereo sweet spot is critical with Magnepans. Having said that, I've also used mine in a home theater setup with a couple good subwoofers and an excellent center speaker in the mix and they do really well to spread the sound around the front soundstage as well as around the room because of their bipole design. They need lots of room to breathe.

Now that I'm feeling better after my stint with Covid I can focus on getting the LRS set up & sounding their best. A complete 180 vs setting up a box speaker.
