Omni S2 WiFi speaker stopped working

I have enjoyed a pair of Omni S2 speakers for several years. One speaker has stopped working. There is no sound and no WiFi connectivity and the setup light stays dark. When I unplug the speaker and plug it back in there is a popping sound. Any clue as to what is wrong?
