Anyone with experience with this amp?
What would be a good price on this amp? Stock, seller is asking $700. Or a $1000 for it an RB-985Mkii and a RSP-1069 processor.

If it's pristine with original box the $700 is ok. These sell routinely for around $500 though. I think the original retail price was only $1,000 when these were made 15 to 20 years ago but these will drive pretty much any speaker well. Not the best by any means but Rotel knows how to make solid class AB amps.
It's a good amp and puts out more power than the ratings suggest. Not the most refined. More along the lines of a second gen Emotiva amp. Personally, I'd go for a Parasound amp instead but for $500 a 1080 is a contender. Or an Emotiva.Post edited by Emlyn on -
I had an RB990BX that was terrific (200wpc). I bought and sold it for $250, IIRC.

I loved my RB993 which is there channels and I think I paid $600 shipped. I agreee I wouldn’t pay more than $500.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Thanks guys. Just looking for another power amp. And found this one. Seller is really wanting to sell both amps and the processor as a package for $1000. And I just have no use for a 5 channel amp and the processor.--Gary--

Well...that RSP-1069 was a $2200 processor when it came out and the multi channel amp is solid too for surround speaker duty.
The processor has multichannel analog inputs that make it still relevant in a home theater system even if it's outdated for internal processing.
As a package they're interesting if they're in excellent shape. -
how much they asking for the processor and is it black? I have a friend who just may be interested if the price is right. I think he has the 1066 and is wanting HDMI input/output to go with his 1095 amp. -

Initially he told me $700 for the 1080. Then later he said he'd rather sell all of it as a package deal. Yes processor is black.

The RB-1080 is a rock solid amp. If it's in perfect shape I think $500-700 is a fair deal.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
AVOID the Rotel RSP-1069.
Rotel pre/pros have a rather cult-like following. Unfortunately they have a history beginning w/ the 1069, of HDMI issues that, in spite of their much loved SQ*, in my view are not worth the headaches. I retired both of my RSPs (980 & 1068) because channels died one by one
*that includes me

While Rotel has come out w/several 15 series units to decode the newer formats* that follow the 10[69] series, they still have not gotten HDMI to work correctly, consistently. Further, they’ve consistently come to the party last or very late w/ the same*. Firmware updates are scary w/frequent units returned to Rotel to unlock.
Their latest attempt retails @ $3500. I have not researched its track record because I “left the fold” for Outlaw Audio of which I’m well pleased w/the 975 and my current unit, the 976.
